Hoping for Quick Sales, Hong Kong Developers Drop Home Prices
Developers in Hong Kong are setting new home prices at levels not seen for five years, hoping to promote sales ahead of further increases to interest rates and before a spate of new supply comes to market. For example, Henderson Land Development will offer the first batch of 148 flats in the 740-unit Henley Park in Kai Tak at an average of HK$21,088 (US$2,694) per square foot after discounts, which amounts to about 15% less than comparable new residences in the area. Luxury Homes Selling Fast in Mumbai, Leaving City With Lowest Inventory in Years
The supply of unsold luxury homes in Mumbai fell by 25% year over year in the first quarter, according to data from the real estate agency Anarock Group. Homes priced at 25 million rupees (US$305,119) are considered luxury in the Indian city, and, at the end of March, Mumbai had 15,520 units of unsold apartments at that price point—the lowest inventory of luxury homes seen in the city for a long time, said Anuj Puri, chairman of Anarock Group. “Luxury homes have been driving housing sales across most cities since the first Covid-19 wave. The quest for more space—one of the defining characteristics of luxury homes—fuels most of this demand,” Puri said. Business Insider India
