MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – The legacy of the Great Victory is a powerful resource for preventing a new world war, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said at the plenary session of the 2nd International Anti-Fascist Congress taking place in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
According to Viktor Khrenin, it is no coincidence that the congress is held in Belarus. Its soil is soaked in the blood of the defenders of the Motherland during the Great Patriotic War. “The Great Victory over fascism is the common heritage of all people of good will, first of all, the peoples of the Soviet Union, who made a decisive contribution to the liberation of Europe and the world. The legacy of the Victory is a powerful spiritual and moral resource for preventing a new world war, for the future development of not only our countries, but the entire planet,” Viktor Khrenin said.
This is why the forum brought together politicians, statesmen and public figures, scholars and experts, the defense minister emphasized. These are those who unswervingly defend the truth about the most important event of the 20th century – the Victory over fascism. “It encrypts the key answers to the challenges of the new millennium. These challenges are associated with the revival of fascism, attempts not just to rewrite history, but to reverse the historical process,” Viktor Khrenin added.
