One of Lenovo’s latest announcements is for one of the new projectors it has started to add to its popular Yoga line-up. The T500 Play is a DLP 1080p example of such a product, although the OEM asserts that it is also capable of 4K decoding with HDR10 and HLG support thanks to its Amlogic T972 SoC, paired to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
These internals come in a chassis that many consumers might like to keep in their home (so long as they like a lot of soft gold in the same accessory); then again, the T500 Play could also take an on-the-go role on for the user thanks to its 22,500mAh battery. Lenovo asserts that it can keep the projector on for about 3 hours, or about 2 to 3 movies.
The T500 Play has a brightness of up to 6-700 ANSI lumens, which can adapt on the fly due to a "Cat’s Eye" sensor that modulates said luminosity to best suit the human eye in accordance with the ambient lighting conditions. Lenovo has also packed its first-party EEP technology into the new projector to enhance its image quality.
The new member of the Yoga family has a projection ratio of 1.2:1, which means it can throw its 16:9 images in sizes of 60 to 120 inches. It should also do so with keystone correction and focus with a 3-second latency. It also packs dual 12-inch 10W speakers for "immersive, cinema-quality" sound.
The projector can connect to a user’s mobile devices via Bluetooth to grab content to show; however, Lenovo has also provided it with HDMI, SPDIF and 3.5mm ports – not to mention 2 USBs: 1 type-A and 1 that is type-C with a SuperSpeed connection.
Lenovo has made the Yoga T500 Play available on the Chinese market to start off with (hopefully), where it can be ordered for a normal price of 2,999 yuan (~US$471). There is also a new stand for the device with a 5kg max load and 360° pan support for 499 yuan (~$78).
