The presidents of Lithuania, Poland, and Latvia have penned a letter to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and other NATO leaders, alerting them to the security threat posed by Russia's "aggressive actions" and the current situation in Belarus, CNN reported on July 7.
"The cooperation between Russia and Belarus has deteriorated the security of the region and that of the entire Euro-Atlantic area," the three presidents said.

The leaders highlighted Russia's use of Belarusian territory in its war in Ukraine and the positioning of Moscow's tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. They described these actions as an "an escalatory move" and a "direct threat to the security of our community."
On June 9, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced that Russia would deploy tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus in July.
On June 16, Putin asserted that Russia had allegedly already transported first nuclear warheads to Belarusian territory.

However, Ukrainian Military Intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov stated on June 20 that Russians had not yet moved tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus.

On June 30, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi to take appropriate steps to further fortify the border with Belarus.
