Rents Are Surging Across the U.K.
Rental properties across the U.K. are seeing their monthly prices soar, growing at the fastest rate in seven years, according to data from the Office for National Statistics. In the year to May, rents grew 5% nationwide, and 5.1% in London, where increases were the most acute. Prices are jumping as rental demand is being pushed higher by a growing number of would-be home buyers, who, instead of buying amid high mortgage rates, are turning to the rental market.
