This would be the third time in Luxair’s six decades of history that it lent out its brand and colors to support a social cause.
Besides housing the spooky event of Halloween, October is also known as Pink October or Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And as always, Luxair is showing its commitment to supporting and raising awareness about the cause, having turned one of its aircraft's blue livery into pink.
This would be the third time in Luxair's six decades of history that it has lent out its brand and colors to support a social cause. The flag carrier has long been working with several organizations in favor of social causes, such as when it changed to an orange color in November 2020 to support the Elimination of Violence against Women and being painted in colors of the rainbow in June last month for Pride Month.
This is why supporting Think Pink during Pink October is no surprise. Founded in 2009, Think Pink is a Luxembourg non-profit charity organization, and through this collaboration, it will offer Luxair employees free awareness-raising webinars about self-screening. To highlight this, the airline collaborated with Lisa Junius, a multidisciplinary artist who works in all kinds of media and highlights women's art, from illustration to design.

Known as the Think Pink livery, the new look was painted on Luxair's De Havilland Dash 8 aircraft registered as LX-LQJ, a five-year-old aircraft delivered to Luxair in August 2017. The airline hopes the charming Think Pink livery, with various shades of pink spread across its fuselage, would spread awareness through Europe and wherever the aircraft flies.
Gilles Feith, Chief Executive Officer of Luxair, says:
"I am very proud that Luxair is once again mobilizing for such an important cause. Indeed, this collaboration with the Think Pink charity organization, aims to promote early detection of breast cancer and raise public awareness of the daily reality of cancer. Thanks to this new livery, Luxair will spread a message of support and awareness, in the destinations served by the Q400 and far beyond."
In addition to the special livery, Luxair is launching a range of dedicated and unique mugs bearing the designs of Junius, which will be available to customers from October 1st in the Luxair Travel Stores located at Luxembourg Airport. The profits from selling these mugs will be entirely donated to Think Pink.

It's currently uncertain when Luxair will switch out of its pink color and back to blue, though the assumption could be once November settles in. And albeit it was nothing spectacularly special since it was all usual destinations, LX-LQJ took off in its new colors on September 28th when it flew and spread awareness on the Luxembourg-Vienna, Luxembourg-Barcelona, and Luxembourg-Paris routes.
Subsequently, the Think Pink aircraft flew to its usual destinations, such as London and Dublin. And for the next few days, passengers flying on Luxair from Brindisi, Vienna, and Milan will experience flying on the Think Pink aircraft, where inside the cabin, they will see a calm and strong female figurehead to emphasize the message of support and awareness further.
