Travellers to Luxembourg will remain subject to entry restrictions for almost three more months, as the country’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has extended the Coronavirus entry measures until September 30, 2022.
In a press release issued by the Ministry, it has been announced that third-country nationals who are not residents of any of the European Union or Schengen Area countries will remain subject to these restrictions due to the country’s continuous attempts to prevent another outbreak of the virus within its territory.
“These restrictions apply to all travel to Luxembourg, regardless of the means of transport,” the press release points out.
It further notes that exempt from the measure remain holders of residence permits or long-term visas issued by an EU or Schengen Area country, as well as persons falling under the provisions of the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement.
Exempt are also travellers from countries on the EU’s list of epidemiologically safe third countries, which list currently includes Bahrain, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, Kuwait, New Zealand, Peru, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, and China (subject to confirmation of reciprocity).
The rest of the travellers from third countries will be able to enter the territory of Luxembourg if they present proof of any of the following:
“At the same time, the Ministry informs that following the recent equivalence decisions of the European Commission, the vaccination certificates issued by the authorities of Bahrain, Ecuador, Indonesia, Kosovo, Madagascar, Seychelles, and Vietnam are from now on to be considered as equivalent,” the press release further explains.
The move means that nationals of the countries listed holding a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 can enter the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, as long as they are vaccinated with one of the vaccines approved by the Luxembourgian authorities.
At the same time, the recovery certificates issued by the authorities of Bahrain, Kosovo, Seychelles and Vietnam are now recognized by the authorities of the Grand Duchy, and travellers from these countries holding such a certificate can enter Luxembourg for non-essential purposes without being subject to further restrictions.
The current COVID restrictions in Luxembourg had previously been extended in March and were supposed to expire on the first of July.
