The authorities of Luxembourg have announced that the country has decided to lift its Coronavirus-related entry restrictions for all travellers from third countries on October 1.
Announcing the news, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg said that from October 1, travellers from non-EU countries would be permitted entry into the country regardless of their COVID status.
“From October 1, 2022, third-country nationals residing outside the European Union or the Schengen area can once again travel to the Grand Duchy for any kind of travel, including for non-essential travel (i.e., for tourist or other reasons), regardless of their vaccination status,” the statement of the Ministry reads.
This means that as soon as the new decision enters into force, all travellers from third countries will no longer be required to present a vaccination, recovery, or test certificate upon their arrival in Luxembourg, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
Apart from announcing that third-country travellers will no longer have to meet COVID entry rules, the Ministry made sure to remind the visa rules for those who need one in order to be permitted entry to Luxembourg.
The Ministry said that all people concerned should hold a valid passport and a short-stay visa. In addition, the same highlighted that no one exceeds the 90-day period.
“The persons concerned remain subject to the basic conditions applicable for the entry and stay of less than 90 days in the Schengen area, including in particular being in possession of a valid passport and, for persons subject to visa requirements in order to enter Luxembourg, hold a short-stay visa,” the Ministry stated.
It is believed that the Luxembourg authorities decided to apply the same entry rules for third-country travellers as to those from EU countries after taking into account the infection and vaccination rates.
Data provided by the World Health Organization show that Luxembourg has recorded 1,559 new Coronavirus infection cases in the last seven days.
As for the vaccination rates, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC)shows that Luxembourg has administered a total of 1,310,983 COVID vaccine doses as of September 22.
The same source reveals that as of September 22, 82.0 per cent of the entire adult population has completed primary vaccination. Additionally, ECDC shows that 67.8 per cent of the population has already received the first booster shot, and another 10.4 per cent has received the second booster shot
