It’s finally here. The FIFA Women’sWorld Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 is kicking off this Thursday, July 20, and as part of its global sponsorship, McDonald’s is celebrating in the most McDonald’s way it knows how.
Standing close to five metres tall, the larger-than-life Macca’s Fries packet-shaped restaurant—dubbed Fry-Thru— will be serving Macca’s iconic hot, crispy Fries to football fans at the FIFA Fan Festival, as well as members of the public in Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour.
Medium Fries can be purchased and enjoyed alongside Macca’s limited-edition ‘Sauces of the World’, including Outback BBQ Sauce and Wasabi-flavoured Mayo Sauce, inspired by participating countries at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
Macca’s will also have various experiences outside stadiums across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. Experiences on offer include Macca’s All Stars—an interactive photo booth that gives fans a collectable card, personalised by name, location, match and choice of a skill, alongside Macca’s Swings.
To continue the football celebrations in restaurants, customers can get their hands on the new Panini Football Stickers Happy Meal. Build your own dream team with one of 12 double-sided posters and a mix of five stickers, available in all restaurants nationwide from now until Wednesday, August 23.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup is mere hours away from kicking off, and Pizza Hut is giving Australians free pizza to celebrate.
Yes, you heard that right. So how do you get your hands on free pizza? It’s easy. For every single goal scored by the Matildas at the football tournament this July and August, Pizza Hut will give away 600 pizzas. if any team scores a goal, 200 pizzas will also be given away. That’s a lot of pizza. Each day at 4 pm (AEST), starting July 21, visit this link and enter your name into the jackpot for a chance to win free pizza.
So, how many free pizzas are we talking about here? In the previous tournament held in 2019, international teams scored 138 goals, and Australia scored eight goals. If that exact result was to be repeated, a total of 32,400 free pizzas could be given away.
If you’re an optimist, you could hope for a repeat of the best-ever score in a tournament game, which saw the USA beat Thailand 13-0. That’s 2,600 free pizzas unlocked just in one game. Multiply that by the 64 games being played, and that’s a whopping 171,200 juicy pizzas that could be given away —that’s almost 2 million dollars worth of pizza, folks.
If you want to show your love for the sport and Pizza Hut, you can grab an eye-catching pizza-patterned jersey by heading to the Pizza Hut Facebook page and answering the question: “How many total goals will Australia score in their first two tournament games?”
Be it a beautifully curled shot into the top corner or a powerful header crashing into the back of the net, Pizza For Goals will be cause for celebration both on and off the pitch.
