Malaysia’s Ministry of Health (KKM) has announced that Malaysian citizens returning to the country will no longer need to fill in the Traveller’s Pass section in their MySejahtera application, effective Monday, 4 July 2022.
This relaxation is to make it easier for citizens to return to their home country, following the “satisfactory” condition of the country’s health system, Minister of Health Khairy Jamaluddin said in a statement.
Moving forward, the removal of the Traveller’s Pass requirement will be done in stages to allow flexibility for other groups such as social pass holders, student pass holders, and permanent residents. Further details on this will be announced at a later date, the Minister added. Currently, the removal only applies to Malaysian citizens.
Minister Khairy also clarified that the Traveller’s Pass features will still be displayed on the MySejahtera application, and non-Malaysian travellers are still required to complete it before visiting the country.
In addition to monitoring COVID-19 cases among foreign travellers, these features need to be completed so that the Ministry of Health will be able to closely monitor other infectious diseases from abroad, such as monkeypox.
