Gabungan Rakyat Sabah has agreed to join the unity government, said Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, adding that this meant his government will have a two-thirds majority in the Lower House.
The currency saw its largest single-day gain since March 2016 following Anwar Ibrahim's appointment, but observers believe the ringgit could trade back up by the end of the year.
