The franchise is making a big change
McDonald‘s is the most famous fast food restaurant franchise in the world, a fact that is due to the way that the company not only thinks about food, but also about its restaurants as places where you can be happy.
Currently, it has almost 40,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries, a ranking which is led by the United States, followed by China and Japan.
Until now, the company had opened traditional fast food restaurants in spacious rooms and with complementary ‘take away’ service, however, that approach is not always viable in the modern world.
The company has therefore decided to renew itself and, from now on, will opt for a new restaurant format called “CosMc’s”.
It is a variety based, above all, on ‘delivery’ and ‘take away’, so it is designed with much smaller dining rooms.
“CosMc’s is a small-format concept with all the McDonald’s DNA, but with its own unique personality,” explained the corporation’s CEO, Chris Kempczinski.
McDonald’s had been slowing down the opening of its establishments for some time, which is why they have decided to promote this measure.
Being smaller environments will mean that these branches will be quick to construct, in addition to being more efficient and realistic premises adapted to the new consumer demands.
“A big reason we can now think about this format is because of the growth that has occurred with digital and delivery,” the CEO added.
“We don’t necessarily need the big restaurants anymore.”
Kempczinski highlighted the new era in which we are already immersed and the one that will dominate over the next decades, digitalization, as a determining factor in carrying out this remodeling.
This new name that McDonald’s has chosen for its new format is due to the fact that CosMc was a mascot that began to appear in its advertisements in the early 90s.
Its ultimate desire was to reach ‘Earth’ in order to enjoy the restaurant chain’s menu.
Now, with this identity, it seems that he will finally enjoy the company’s delicious food.
