They celebrated Lili’s birthday at Frogmore Cottage during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
Throughout Harry & Meghan, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix docuseries, the Sussexes share home videos and
photos of their family of four.
Included in the program is a short video of Meghan holding Lilibet to blow out the candles on her first birthday cake, as Archie climbs on the table to help out his baby sister. (The video occurs around minute 44 in episode five.)
Close friends and family marked Lilibet’s first birthday with a casual backyard picnic at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee weekend.
During the Jubilee celebrations, King Charles met his granddaughter for the first time. "It was wonderful to have them back in Britain, [Charles and Camilla] were absolutely thrilled to see them," a royal source said this summer. "The Prince of course hasn’t seen his grandson Archie for a bit of time and so it was very, very, very special to have some time with him. He hadn’t met Lilibet, his granddaughter, and so to meet her for the first time was I think very emotional, a very wonderful thing."
Though grandpa Charles was not at Lilibet’s birthday, in attendance were photographer Misan Harriman and his family, and, from the video shared above, Harry and Meghan’s friend Misha Nonoo also seemed to be there. Others in attendance were reported to be Zara and Mike Tindall, along with their three children, Mia, Lena, and Lucas, as well as Peter Phillips and his daughters Savannah and Isla.
Baker Claire Ptak, who made Harry and Meghan’s wedding cake in 2018, made Lilibet’s birthday cake. "It was an absolute pleasure to make this special cake last week for Lilibet’s birthday. Wishing her a very happy year ahead!" Ptak wrote on her Instagram in June. Ptak shared that she made the same lemon and elderflower cake she created for Meghan and Harry’s 2018 wedding, but for little Lili, she used strawberry buttercream frosting. For royal fans, the recipe will be available in Ptak’s upcoming book, Love Is a Pink Cake: Irresistible Bakes for Morning, Noon, and Night.
