MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – Belarus and China have the ability and desire to expand bilateral military cooperation, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said as he met with Chinese State Councilor, member of the CPC Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defense Li Shangfu in Minsk on 16 August, BelTA has learned.
“The People’s Liberation Army of China is a reliable defense of China’s interests, one of the pillars of stability not only in the Asia-Pacific region but also in the entire world. I wish you, as well as all members of the Chinese army, peaceful skies, prosperity, success and new achievements for the benefit of the great China and the Chinese people. I would like to note that this year for China was marked by an important event and a new stage in the modern history of the state. We are talking about the successful holding of the “two sessions”, which emphasized the strengthening of China’s position in the international arena and the consolidation of the Chinese people around a strong leader – President Xi Jinping,” Viktor Khrenin said.
The Belarusian defense minister expressed his confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, new achievements await the country in the economy, politics, as well as in strengthening its defense capabilities and fighting for a just peace.
As for the relations between Belarus and China, the two countries have common interests, Viktor Khrenin said. “These interests cover the main areas of life of our states. Today, along with excellent prospects for the development of relations in trade, economic, scientific and technical areas, we have the opportunity and desire to expand bilateral military and technical cooperation. I am convinced that your visit will contribute to strengthening partnership, friendship and mutual understanding between the Armed Forces of Belarus and the People’s Liberation Army of China,” the Belarusian defense minister said.
