DUI CHARGE
Aiza Kamal, 25, of 2201 Sigwalt St., Rolling Meadows, was charged June 16 with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, and improper lane usage. According to police, officers at approximately 1:15 a.m. were conducting routine patrol near Northwest Highway and French Way when they observed a white Volkswagen Jetta traveling 61 mph in a 40 mph zone. The report said officers observed the vehicle drifting and weaving. Officers conducted a traffic stop and during questioning, said they smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath. She reportedly failed standardized field sobriety tests and recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.139. She was charged a short time later and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
LICENSE CHARGE
Daniel Arnold, 31, of 2337 N. Geneva Terr., Chicago, was charged June 18 with driving on an expired license and expired registration. According to police, officers at approximately 7:59 p.m. were on patrol near Elmhurst and Rand roads when they observed a gray Lexus sedan with an expired registration sticker from August 2021. Officers conducted a traffic stop and reported that his license had expired in May 2021. He was charged a short time later and the vehicle was relocated off the roadway into a nearby parking lot.
Mathew Lao Lopez, 31, of 7612 S. Paulina St., Chicago, was charged June 16 with driving on a suspended license and driving with a missing driver’s side mirror. According to police, officers at approximately 12:51 p.m. were on patrol near Dempster Street and Linneman Road when they observed a red Chevy sedan traveling with its driver side mirror missing. Officers conducted a traffic stop and reported that his license was suspended due to failure to appear for an out-of-state citation. He was charged a short time later and the vehicle was turned over to a friend to drive away from the scene.
Eder Azael Hernandez Zalaya, 24, of 1749 Chariot Ct., Mount Prospect, was charged June 15 with no driver’s license and not wearing a seatbelt. According to police, officers at approximately 11:14 a.m. were near Busse Road and Chariot Court when they observed a blue Chevy traveling with the driver not wearing a seatbelt. Officers conducted a traffic stop and reported that he did not have a license. He was charged a short time later.
Timothy Winfield, 59, of 754 W. Algonquin Rd., Des Plaines, was charged June 15 with driving while license revoked and expired registration. According to police, officers at an undisclosed time were on patrol near Algonquin and Busse roads when they observed a blue Nissan with an expired registration sticker dating back to February 2022. Officers conducted a traffic stop and reported that his license was revoked due to a DUI. He was charged a short time later and the vehicle was left legally parked nearby.
WARRANT ARREST
Matthew Bauman, 21, of 402 Walden Ct., Romeoville, was taken into custody June 17 due to an outstanding warrant. According to police, officers at approximately 4:23 p.m. responded to the area of 1403 W. Palm Dr. for a suspicious vehicle. En route, officers were informed that a man had a verbal encounter with a resident and approached the home, but got frightened when the homeowner appeared from the garage. Police were told the man in question, later identified as Bauman, entered a truck and fled the scene. Officers located the vehicle on Robert Drive south of Willow Lane. Officers approached the vehicle and reported Bauman had a bond forfeiture warrant from Will County. He was taken into custody at that time.
SPEEDING CHARGE
Damian Brzoziewski, 23, of 4032 N. Odell Ave., Norridge, was charged June 23 with speeding. According to police, officers at approximately 12:53 a.m. were on patrol near Central Road and Stevenson Lane when they observed a black Audi traveling 66 mph in a 35 mph zone. Officers conducted a traffic stop and he was cited a short time later.
Albert Napoleon, 23, of 906 N. Douglas Ave., Arlington Heights, was charged June 20 with speeding. According to police, officers at approximately 12:24 a.m. observed a silver Honda Civic traveling 68 mph in a 40 mph zone near Euclid Avenue and Basswood Lane. Officers conducted a traffic stop and he was cited a short time later.
Claudio Gatty, 28, of 924 E. Surrey Dr., Schaumburg, was charged June 19 with speeding and disobeying a traffic signal. According to police, officers at approximately 12:55 a.m. were on Busse Road when they observed a silver vehicle westbound on Golf Road traveling 87 mph in a 40 mph zone. The vehicle allegedly went through a solid red light at the intersection of Golf and Busse. Officers conducted a traffic stop and he was charged a short time later.
Daniel Mora Perez, 19, of 4856 N. Kedvale Ave., Chicago, was charged June 16 with speeding. According to police, officers at approximately midnight were near Elmhurst Road and Gregory Street when they observed a black Lexus traveling 69 mph in a 35 mph zone. He was cited a short time later.
FRAUD REPORT
Police June 14 received a report from a man who said someone purchased a laptop online using his credit card information in the amount of $1,518.32 the day before 10 a.m. He told police he received a text alert on his phone from his bank confirming the purchase and said he did not authorize the purchase.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
Police June 16 received a report from a woman who stated she received an email about a part time job so she responded via email and gave personal information to the company. She said the company asked her to put money into a bank account for her to start receiving paychecks. She told police she thought it was suspicious and did not send any money.
THEFT REPORTS
Police at 3:17 p.m. June 11 responded to a report of a theft at 2291 S. Lexington. A man told police he parked his 2005 Honda Accord in front of his home at approximately 4 p.m. the day before and when he returned at approximately 2 p.m. that day, he turned on the car and it was very loud. He checked underneath and observed the catalytic converter was missing.
Police at 12:10 p.m. June 6 responded to 1408 Clove Ct. for a delayed theft report. A woman stated she was shopping at TJ Maxx, 1054 Center Dr., between noon and 1 p.m. June 3 and when she returned home, noticed her wallet containing a bank credit card, Kohl’s credit card, and Home Depot credit card was missing. She said she received a text from her bank that a purchase from Best Buy online for approximately $2,700 was declined. She told police she canceled all her cards.
RETAIL THEFT
Police at 1:25 p.m. June 12 responded to Walmart, 930 Mount Prospect Plaza, for a retail theft. An employee told police that while reviewing security footage from June 10, they observed an unknown man behind the unmanned sporting goods counter take five boxes of baseball cards with a total value of $127.92 from the display and exit the store without paying for the merchandise before leaving the scene.
BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE
Police June 18 received a report from a woman who stated someone entered her Chrysler and stole several items while the vehicle was parked at the Marathon gas station, 1201 E. Central Rd., while it was having repairs done. She told police she dropped off the vehicle at 4 p.m. June 14 and when she returned at 6 p.m. June 17, she realized that a wallet with gift cards, a fleece jacket, sandals, calculator, golf bag with clubs, vintage doll and luggage were all missing.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Police at 10:53 a.m. June 21 responded to Lions Park Band Shell, 411 S. Maple St., for a graffiti report. An employee found graffiti during an event setup at 8 a.m. June 20 and believed the graffiti occurred the night before. Graffiti was also found on a large boulder, bleacher, and three garbage cans. Clean up was estimated at $500, the report added.
Police at approximately 6:31 p.m. June 19 responded to a home on S. Na Wa Ta Avenue for a criminal damage to property report. A man told police someone damaged the storm door on his residential door while he and his family were out of town between noon June 17 and 6:30 p.m. June 19. When they returned, he discovered the glass on the storm door was shattered. Officers observed the broken glass on the storm door on the north side of the residence adjacent to the garage door.
Police at approximately 8:31 p.m. June 18 responded to Oberweis, 80 E. Northwest Hwy., for a juvenile nuisance. The manager told police that between 5-8 male juveniles were banging on the storefront windows, despite being told to stop. He said the juveniles left the scene and the windows were not damaged but he did discover damage to the property when closing the previous night. He said two metal posts for the patio umbrellas were damaged where one was bent sideways and the other was cracked from being bent.
Police at 5:26 p.m. June 17 were dispatched to a home on Golfhurst Avenue for a damage to property report. A woman told police a tree branch from a neighbor’s tree broke off and fell on her shed. She said the branch damaged the roof to the shed but did not damage any items and advised the cost of the shed was between $4,000-$5,000 when she purchased it.
Police at 3:25 p.m. June 17were dispatched to Big Surf Pool, 411 S. Maple St., for a vandalism report. The manager told police there was spray paint markings in one of the stalls of the boy’s locker rooms. The report said officers observed spray paint in one of the urinals and also on the wall behind the toilet in the stall.
Police at approximately 7:22 p.m. June 13 responded to a home on Hatlen Avenue for an accidental damage to property report. A man told police that at approximately 7 p.m., several tree branches broke off a tree in the parkway due to a severe storm and fell on his front lawn, damaging a flagpole and park-style bench in the process. Damage was estimated at approximately $500.
Police at approximately 5:02 a.m. June 6 observed a gray Nissan Versa parked in a clearly marked no parking/tow zone. The report said officers then noticed the no parking/tow sign had been spray painted black and was directly in front of the vehicle. Police contacted the Mount Prospect Greens Apartments management office about the vandalism.
Police at approximately 9 p.m. May 31 responded to St. John Lutheran School, 1101 S. Linneman Rd., for a criminal damage to property report. Officers reportedly discovered a shattered window near the northeast quadrant of the building. The interior of the building did not appear ransacked and it did not appear that anyone had been inside. Officers also observed a second window was broken. Police observed several pieces of graffiti on the lower level stairwell and north face of the building.
