In a brief demanding a retrial for Fugees hip-hop star Pras Michel, the musical artist’s new lawyers contend that his lead trial counsel, David Kenner, relied on an experimental AI program to write his closing argument. The argument was a fiasco. Even worse, according to Michel’s new lawyers at ArentFox, Kenner had an undisclosed financial interest in promoting the AI program – and used Michel’s case to advance his own interest rather than his client’s. Kenner did not respond to requests for comment. Alison Frankel has more on the allegations.
