It’s been a busy July for Nashville’s dining scene.
Several new restaurants opened around town and several more announced they were coming soon.
A new Italian option, acai and grain bowls and a “refined twist on comfort food” are just a few of the highlights. Read on to find out what opened and what’s in the pipeline this summer.
Experienced restaurateurs Matthew and Ryan Poli put the finishing touches on their Wedgewood-Houston concept Iggy’s in July. It’s 65 seats, with a focus on pasta.
As Tennessean food writer Mackensy Lunsford wrote in a story about the opening, “the theme is everything the Polis enjoy, including steak tartare, arancini stuffed with buttery escargot, bucatini alla carbonara, and more challenging hyper-seasonal pasta plates, too.”

The interior is light-filled with clean lines and elegant touches, like the intricately patterned blue and white barstools. The brothers say they are going for an elevated, yet unpretentious feel. Open Wednesday through Sunday, 609 Merritt Ave., reservations recommended.
Vui and John Hunt, founders of Vui’s Kitchen and I Love Juice Bar, have opened Vui’s Juice Café next door to Vui’s Kitchen in Berry Hill.
“We have always wanted to offer nourishing whole foods as a companion to juice offerings, and we are so excited to bring this concept to life,” Vui Hunt said in a news release about the opening. “We look forward to providing a fresh, clean, delicious approach to breakfast, brunch, and lunch with the intention of our customers feeling nourished and energized for a great day.”
The restaurant is open 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. seven days per week at 522 Heather Place.
Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery in July opened a restaurant in Marathon Village, offering a “refined twist on comfort food infused with Southern flair.”
Menu standouts include fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, Croque Madame and a Nashville hot crab sandwich. The full-service bar will feature a wide range of Nelson’s products, including exclusive distillery releases.

“A top-notch, experienced group has been leading the charge in opening this restaurant,” manager of hospitality Erica Dahlgren said in a news release about the opening. “We’re proud of the dedication and thoughtfulness that’s gone into this space, menu and team. Our guests are sure to experience a wonderful meal and environment when visiting.”
The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Monday at 1414 Clinton St.
A health-conscious and quick option opened up this month at the base of the Amazon tower I in the developing Nashville Yards area. Crisp & Green, serving everything healthy that comes in a bowl, originates from Minnesota and has opened up locations across the country.
Puckett’s will open a location in Hendersonville, making it the first A. Marshall Hospitality concept in Sumner County.
“Hendersonville has been a community on our wish list for many years,” AMH CEO and proprietor Andy Marshall said in a statement about the expansion.
The 7,387-square-foot space will be located at 1039 Glenbrook Way in Hendersonville, off Vietnam Veterans Boulevard.
“It is a town that is rich in family values, has deep roots in the music industry and an appreciation for great food. We are thrilled about this opportunity and look forward to serving ‘The City by the Lake’.”
Tanger Outlets announced the full list of retail and restaurant tenants coming to the Antioch shopping center in a recent update. Included in the lineup was TailGate Brewery.
The brewing company will open its tasting room, pizzeria and production facility in a 5,000-square-foot space.
“So many of our team, Mug Club members, and Nashville craft beer fans live in South Nashville,” founder Wesley Keegan said in a release. “The opportunity to work with a first class organization like Tanger was one that we couldn’t pass up.”
Crema will open a Brentwood location later this year, marking the local coffee favorite’s first expansion outside of Davidson County. The new location will be larger than the others, and feature mobile order options for quick and easy pickup.
A new, expanded food menu will be available at the Brentwood Plaza location, featuring salads, sandwiches and other breakfast and lunchtime offerings.
Several upscale American restaurants announced they would open before the last days of summer.
Harper’s Steakhouse, a restaurant from Milkshake Concepts, will open Aug. 18 in the ground floor of Peabody Plaza at 2 Lea Avenue. According to a news release, the menu will include classic cuts and adventurous options, from Filet Mignon and Dry-Aged Bone-in NY Strip to Elk Tenderloin and Japanese Wagyu.
Joe Muer Seafood, a Detroit-based company, will open its Capitol View location Aug. 28. Guests can expect Southern twists on the seafood restaurant’s award-winning menu. The large space will seat up to 300 people.
Finally, Evelyn’s is expected to open late this summer. While an exact date has not been announced, new details were shared in a recent news release. To be located in Midtown on West End Avenue, Evelyn’s is a modern American restaurant named for Evelyn Sharp, a 20th-century socialite, hotelier, savvy art collector and philanthropist. The interior will feature artistic homages to the restaurant’s namesake.
