TAZEWELL COUNTY (25 News Now) – Voting will cost less for those living in Tazewell County.
The Tazewell County Clerk’s Office signed a new six-year contract for election equipment and services with Liberty Systems LLC.
Tazewell County Clerk John Ackerman says the contract was set to expire in December 2023 but the company offered to allow the county to terminate that contract so they could save.
“Instead not only is he letting us out of it, but he offered to terminate it,” Ackerman said. “It really shows a businessman going above and beyond to save the taxpayers of tazewell County some revenue.”
There were 135 voting precincts in Tazewell County four years ago, but that number is now down to 82, Ackerman said.
That is saving taxpayers more than $765,000 for the life of the new six-year contract.
