Resale Home Transactions in Singapore Rose Nearly 11% in July
Deals for resale homes in Singapore rose 10.7% month over month in July, although they were down 13% year over year, according data from the real estate portal SRX and property agency 99.co based on the country’s Housing and Development Board. Lived-in house sales are likely to see additional growth in the early fall as development projects have been pushed back. “This delay will likely impact the date of the next sales of balance exercise, prompting potential buyers to turn toward the resale market,” Luqman Hakim, chief data and analytics officer at 99.co. Australian Mining Executive Sells Beach House for Record Price
Australian mining executive Nathan Tinkler has sold his 15-bedroom, 15-bathroom beachfront home on Sapphire Beach in Coffs Harbour, about 233 miles south of Brisbane, in a deal that will set a record for the area. The final price of the more than 5-acre estate has yet to be recorded, but it’s rumored to be in the range of A$25 million (US$16.4 million). That would not only smash Coffs Harbour records, but it also beats Byron Bay’s coastal record of A$23 million. Tinkler has faced bankruptcy and other business difficulties in recent years, but was discharged from bankruptcy about a year ago, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. realestate.com.au
Prices Fall in Scotland for First Time Since Pandemic Began
House prices in Scotland have registered their first decline since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. The majority of respondents reported price declines in the most recent analysis from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), which last indicated such a decline in June 2020. Higher interest rates have “stifled market activity, though demand still exceeds supply in some sectors,” according to Alan Kennedy, of Shepherd surveyors in Fraserburgh, located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Canadian House Prices to See Dip, but Stay Elevated Until 2027
Home prices in Canada are likely to stay elevated until 2027, although they could start to dip this year, according to research firm Oxford Economics. By mid-2024, home prices are predicted to fall about a quarter from their peak in February 2022, according to the research. Still, the cost of a house is likely to be higher than average until around 2027, said Tony Stillo, director of economics for Canada for Oxford.
