Tests of the population alert system continue in Luxembourg on Monday. A new text messages will thus be sent to people in certain areas of the country.
On Monday 7 November, a new test alert message will be sent to mobile phones in the following municipalities: Biwer, Bous, Contern, Dalheim, Flaxweiler, Grevenmacher, Lenningen, Manternach, Mertert, Mondorf-les-bains, Remich, Schengen, Stadtbredimus, Waldbredimus, and Wormeldange.
The Ministry in charge of the process underlines that “only people whose phones are connected to a mobile phone base station” in the designated zones will receive the text message.
As with previous test runs, the following text will be included in the message: “LU-ALERT / ALERTE TEST / NO ACTION REQUIRED / AUCUNE ACTION REQUISE / KEINE HANDLUNG ERFORDERLICH / INFOS: GD.LU/LU-ALERT”.
The government further notes that a “delay” may occur between the sending and receiving of the message. This explains “why not all citizens will receive the test message at the same time.”
Since the government acknowledges that it cannot cover the entire population, it plans on working towards “a multi-channel approach that will eventually reach as many people as possible.”
