There’s a new mid-priced WIKO handset that could be mistaken for a Huawei Nova phone.
The WIKO 5G has been launched as WIKO‘s first offering in China and is now selling in the world’s largest smartphone market for ¥1,999 (roughly P16,133 or $290) for the 8GB/128GB model and ¥2,199 (P17,736 or $319) for the version with double the storage.
The device is basically the 5G variant of the Huawei Nova 9 SE that was released in the Philippines in March this year. Unlike the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680-based Nova 9 SE, though, the WIKO 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset. Plus, it ships with HarmonyOS 3 — not EMUI 12 — out of the box.
The rest of the specs? They’re the same, from the 108-megapixel quad camera on the back to the 6.78-inch 120Hz screen and 4,000mAh battery with support for 66-watt fast charging. Even the design has the elements of the Nova 9 SE (and Nova 10). It’s not surprising, as the latest WIKO unit is a certified product under Huawei’s HarmonyOS Connect ecosystem. Notice that the WIKO T50 and Huawei Y7a look alike, too, but we digress.
It’s not known yet if the WIKO 5G will be released outside China. We’ll let you know if and when there’s an update.
