Donald Trump appeared to be headed for a big legal victory after the U.S. Supreme Court signaled its readiness to reject a ruling by Colorado’s top court to disqualify him from the state’s primary ballot … The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected Trump’s immunity claim. Could he go on trial? … Prosecutor Fani Willis in Trump’s Georgia election interference case asked a judge to quash demands she testify about an alleged improper relationship with a lead prosecutor on the case … Plus, a New York judge is set to rule in Trump’s bid to get a criminal case against him tossed because it is partisan and not covered by state law next week.

The U.S. Supreme Court in a UBS case made it easier for whistleblowers to win lawsuits accusing companies of unlawfully firing them as retaliation … The Biden administration asked SCOTUS to overturn the 5th Circuit’s ruling that would prevent it from regulating “ghost guns” … Berkshire Hathaway’s HomeServices of America and other subsidiaries asked the Supreme Court to hear its antitrust case that culminated in a $1.8 billion trial verdict … Additionally, the court declined to block the U.S. Military Academy at West Point from considering race as a factor in admissions decisions.

Meta resolved a patent dispute with Voxer over streaming-video technology after losing a $175 million jury verdict … TikTok challenged the EU’s supervisory fee aimed to cover regulators’ costs of monitoring compliance with new rules … A former executive at TikTok sued the company, claiming she was fired for complaining about sex and disability discrimination … Apple defeated two lawsuits – one claiming it overpaid CEO Tim Cook and other top executives, and the other accusing it of illegally monopolizing the U.S. market for heart rate monitoring apps … The tech giant also asked a judge to toss a lawsuit accusing it of unlawfully barring apps that facilitate cryptocurrency transactions … Amazon asked a judge to toss a proposed class action over the benefits of its paid subscription Prime service … Google agreed to pay $350 million to settle a shareholders lawsuit over a security bug at its now-defunct Google+ website … It will also face an antitrust trial over digital ads on Sept. 9.
