A popular Italian restaurant in Bristol has closed its doors for the last time, with owners blaming the 'relentless financial pressures' of the hospitality industry in the past couple of years.
Rosemarino opened in Clifton 13 years ago, but served its last meals yesterday (Sunday, July 30). The restaurant had been hailed as one of the best places in Bristol serving 'genuine Italian cooking', but the small restaurant's owners have conceded it can't survive the stormy economic situation with costs of everything from basic ingredients to electricity bills rising.
In a post on the restaurant's Instagram page, the team thanked customers who have dined at the York Place restaurant over the years.

"After 13 wonderful years, we have made the difficult decision to close the doors at our beloved neighbourhood restaurant permanently," the restaurant's owners said. "The past few years have thrown some major curveballs at the industry we love, and the relentless financial pressures have made it increasingly difficult for us to sustain our small business.
"Despite our best efforts, we are no longer able to continue serving you in the way we envisioned. To all those we have welcomed over the years, and all the amazing staff who have been part of the team, we are immensely grateful for your love and support; we cannot thank you enough for being a part of Rosemarino’s story," they added.
"Thank you for your understanding, and for making Rosemarino a cherished part of Bristol’s vibrant dining scene for over a decade," they added.
The restaurant will be sorely missed in Clifton Village and Cliftonwood and beyond. In 2019, after the original owners teamed up with Hyde & Co, Bristol Live visited and our review described it as: "The sort of charming neighbourhood restaurant we need more of and still one of the best places in Bristol for genuine Italian cooking and seamless service."
