A Perth hotel has been voted the best in the country at the prestigious Scottish Hospitality Awards 2023.
The Salutation Hotel was named the ‘Hotel of the Year Overall Winner’ and celebrated gongs along with four other outstanding Big County businesses.
Scotland’s Spa Hotel in Pitlochry won ‘Spa Hotel of the Year’, Blair Castle Caravan Park in Pitlochry won ‘Best Caravan Park’, Blair Castle won ‘Tourist Attraction of the Year’ and the Waterfront Restaurant at the Kenmore Club in Aberfeldy clinched ‘Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year, Central’.
The glamorous awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 16, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.
The evening was deemed a resounding success, with industry leaders, professionals, and guests coming together to honour the very best in Scottish hospitality.
The family-run Strathmore Hotels, who own the Salutation, invited some of the team to go through to Glasgow for the awards ceremony.
Events manager Rachel Scott said: “We were all absolutely delighted to have been nominated by members of the public in the first place.
“When they announced us as the ‘regional winner for central’ we were so delighted.
“Then we discovered that we had won the overall award of Hotel of the Year we were ecstatic, everyone was celebrating the fact that ‘Team Sally ‘had won.
“The award is all down to the staff in the hotel pulling together and giving the guests the best service we can.”
She added: “We are so grateful for everyone who not only voted us through to the final of this competition but also to everyone who has supported the hotel through the years.
“The last few years have hit the hospitality sector really hard and it is lovely to know that our guests appreciate us just as much as we appreciate them.”
A delighted Karen Drysdale, head of tourism and events for Atholl Estates, commented: “We were utterly thrilled to win ‘Attraction of the Year’ for Blair Castle and ‘Perthshire Best Caravan Park’ at the Scottish Hospitality Awards.
“This is the second consecutive year that we’ve been won so to win again in such highly competitive categories, is fantastic.
“Congratulations to the other finalists, the shortlist calibre was superb.”
She added: “The wins coincidentally have come as we received confirmation that Blair Castle retained its five-star award from VisitScotland, grading us an exceptional visitor experience.
“We have also been nominated for Historic Houses Garden of the Year Award so please do support us with your votes.
“A resounding thanks you to everyone who has supported and visited Blair Castle.
“To be recognised with these accolades is a huge boost to our team.
“Looking after visitors to the estate provides us with an opportunity to showcase all that we have on our doorstep and always endeavour to ensure that by the end of their stay or visit that they will be as proud of the landscape and heritage as we all are.”
