While Perth may be small, there’s no shortage of venues waiting for you. In fact, there are always so many new places opening it can be hard to know where to go. So, we’ve compiled a list of Perth’s newest restaurants and bars that we think you should check out.
With a menu that’s designed to share with wine in mind, Perth’s newest chic neighbourhood restaurant and bar, Mas, is waiting for you in Cottesloe. The team says that the vision behind the venue is to create a unique and memorable dining experience that’ll keep guests coming back for more. Establishing partnerships with local suppliers is a big focus for the team, so there’s no doubt that they’ll be serving up the freshest ingredients. On the menu, you’ll be met with a tight, yet sophisticated selection of cocktails and gourmet dishes to share. Our favourites were the duck prosciutto with smoked date mustard and the jersey beef tartar.
Amidst heritage facades you’ll find your new favourite date night location. The Loft Lounge and Bar at the InterContinental is an ode to Western Australia’s greatest food, beer, and wine. From the outdoor terrace, enjoy views overlooking Perth’s King Street Heritage Precincts and Hay Street. They’re serving up your favourite cocktails, but you can also choose from over 50 premium spirits, including nine different Western Australian gins. On the food menu, are four carefully curated categories including small bites, seafood, grilled ciabatta, and meats and cheese.
Perth’s Print Hall is welcoming chef Paolo Del Monte, who’s worked in the kitchen of Michelin star restaurants, Caino, in Montemerano, and London’s two-Rosette awarded Thistle Hotel and will be bringing his authentic Italian flare to the precinct’s newest restaurant, STAMPA! The halls of the old heritage building are set to be filled with aromatics that will transport you to the cobble-stoned streets of old Italy. Alongside Paolo Del Monte, who’ll take the role of Head Chef, is the Executive Chef of Print Hall, Luca Minetti. Both have extensive experience in their craft and have worked in restaurants around the world in Paris, London, and the French West Indies. With only the finest ingredients and traditional cooking methods said to be used, the selection of plates on the menu traverses the many regions of Italy, with dishes such as the Casoncelli Alla Bergamasca which includes Italian sausage ravioli, pear and amaretti sauteed in butter sage and pancetta. Oh, and of course, there’s a wine list that’s been carefully curated to complement each dish.
Soak up picturesque views of the skyline and sunset at Perth’s newest rooftop bar. On the 18th floor of Quest East Perth, you’ll find Folly. Home to flourishing ferns and verdant vines, the bar’s interior is a blend of natural wooden hues, warm neutral tones, and accents of sage green, creating an inner city oasis perched high above the hustle and bustle. No matter where you find yourself standing or seated at Folly, you’ll be met with nearly 360° views. From the lustrous CBD, to the glowing Optus Stadium, watch the sun fall away on its wrap-around verandah. The cocktail menu provides a fresh twist on the classics such as the chilli and ginger Spiced Mule inspired by the tropics. Over on the food menu, you’ll find an array of fragrant, zesty, share plates, a product of ex-Wildflower chef, Jed Gerrard.
Also recently reopened in the InterContinental, is Perth’s latest Spanish-influenced cuisine, Ascua. With the name being the Spanish word for ‘ember’ it seems only fitting that meals prepared here are grilled to excellence over charcoal and burning Banksia and Olive wood. A focal point of your evening at Ascua will be the open kitchen where you can observe as the chefs execute their finest culinary skills. Elements of the furnishings have dabbled in shades of rust and copper, which, combined with the dim lighting, creates a moody and elegant atmosphere.
