PIMA — During Tuesday’s meeting, the Pima Town Council received some good news from the financial audit covering fiscal year 20-21.
“The last two (audits), we tested the credit cards. The procedures are much better and they’re being (used) like they’re supposed to be used,” said Jim Usevich with the auditing firm of Colby & Powell, PLC.
Usevich said the town has eliminated use of debit cards in favor of credit cards, which allows for better accounting.
In previous audits, it was discovered that town cards had been used improperly for personal or non-approved purchases.
It wasn’t all good news though, as expenses exceeded revenues by about $175,000. However, Usevich explained that about $165,000 of those expenses involved road improvements and use of state-shared Highway User Revenue Funds, which the town had reserved.
Usevich closed by telling council members they will likely see a copy of the audit for fiscal year 21-22 within the next six weeks.
