A section of the main road from Perth to Dundee has been closed in both directions after two plant machinery fell off a truck.
The accident on the A90 at the St Madoes/Inchture B953 turnoff was reported by Traffic Scotland at 12.46pm, with eyewitnesses speaking of two digger trucks carried on the back of a lorry coming off mid-carriageway after travelling through the underpass.
It is not clear what caused them to fall off, with a number of unconfirmed reports from the scene suggesting the vehicles may have hit the flyover.
Traffic Scotland advised: “The A90 between Glencarse and St Madoes is currently closed in both directions due to a road traffic incident.
"Motorists are advised to use the signed diversion routes and allow extra time for their journey.”
There was no change to the message an hour later and it is expected to take some time to recover the construction machinery, one of which is pictured on its side.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a vehicle crashing into a bridge near the A90 in the Glencarse area of Perth around 12.35pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
“Officers are in attendance and the road is currently closed.”
