Winnipeg Police identified the victim in a fatal stabbing on Higgins Avenue earlier this week.
Brian Edward Anderson, 40, from Winnipeg was fatally stabbed in front of the Mount Royal Hotel on Higgins Avenue early Wednesday morning.
Anderson was taken to hospital after officers provided emergency medical care but was later was pronounced dead.
Winnipeg Police’s homicide unit is continuing the investigation and anyone with information can call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
Winnipeg Police snagged a shotgun and drugs following a high-risk traffic stop on Pembina Highway on Saturday.
On Friday night, police were alerted to a report of a man with a firearm in a car in the Portage Avenue and Ashburn Street area.
Investigators from the Major Crimes unit believe the suspects were travelling in their car on Portage Avenue when one of them pointed a shotgun at three victims in a passing vehicle.
About an hour later — at midnight — general patrol officers found the vehicle with three suspects near Pembina Highway and Jubilee Avenue.
Police pulled the vehicle over after following the car for a short time. The occupants of the car were placed under arrest and an Ithica Model 37 16-gauge pump action shotgun was recovered from the vehicle. Police also found cocaine, crack cocaine and tablets believed to be ecstasy. The drugs were individually packaged and believed to be intended for distribution
A 23-year-old Winnipeg man is facing three counts of pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm and the possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was detained in custody.
