Earlier this year, the chain opened its first Jersey premises in Charing Cross – which has since operated at around 90 per cent capacity with a number of nights selling out.
Now, Simon Ewins, managing director of Premier Inn, has written an open letter to Visit Jersey, Locate Jersey, the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Minister Lyndon Farnham, thanking them for their support.
He said: ‘The 30 new team members we recruited to run Charing Cross have been terrific and the feedback from guests has been hugely encouraging.
‘We recognise we could not have achieved this without the valuable support of people and organisations like you, who have backed our investment in Jersey and have helped us to become part of the tourism fabric of the Island.
‘We hope to have the opportunity to bring more investment to the Channel Islands in the near future as we seek to grow, as well as increase our contribution to the Island’s overall leisure offer.
‘We would very much like to add another Premier Inn on Jersey and our first hotel on Guernsey within the next 24 months, subject to being able to find suitable locations and conclude the necessary arrangements.’
In September, it was reported that Jersey hotels had experienced a busier than normal end to the season and Economic Minister Lyndon Farnham said that he expected new establishments to open in the ‘not too distant future.’.
At the same time, the Senator – who is a director of the The Royal Yacht – also said that he wanted to see more accommodation around the Waterfront, as it was a nice place for visitors to stay.
