Prince Harry was issued a heartfelt plea about his children Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana and Archie Harrison by an ex-partner of late Antony Armstrong-Armstrong, the first Lord Snowdon. Melanie Cable-Alexander shared how she was thrown under the spotlight after her relationship with the former husband of Princess Margaret became public knowledge. Nevertheless, she said she always refused to take money to speak about her high-profile relationship, realising “the more I said, the more I would fan the flames, and the longer the story would linger”. Her concern, she added, was focused on the son born from the four-year relationship with Lord Snowdon, Jasper, and the effect reading her mother’s words in the press could have on him once he was old enough to understand them.
Ms Cable-Alexander, who was a feature editor at Country Life magazine when she met Lord Snowdon in 1997, wrote in the Daily Mail: “Each time I read or hear another word by him about his rift with the royals or the misery of his life pre-Meghan, I wince for his two young children.
“With so much dirty linen being washed in public, so many accusations flung, how on earth is it going to affect Archie, aged three, and one-year-old Lilibet, in future? At this rate, I fear Harry is perpetuating for his own children those same feelings of vulnerability, insecurity and ‘spareness’ that he himself so palpably possesses.”
While she acknowledged her “public storm” is not comparable in size to the public attention the Duke of Sussex had to deal with his whole life, the writer said it took her “stoicism and guts” to weather the storm she found herself into in the late 1990s. And as a result of her stance, her son has created a “thriving relationship” with both sides of the family.
She added: “Will Harry’s children be able to say the same of their relationship with their cousins, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte? Or, more likely, has Harry’s behaviour wrecked the potential bond between them?”
THE BLOG IS NOW CLOSED.
Prince Harry’s statements regarding British press in his tell-all memoir ‘Spare’ has been criticised by former Editor-in-chief of Sunday Mail Martin Clarke.
Mr Clarke was in conversation with Dan Wootton on GB news on Thursday evening as they spoek about the claims made by the Duke of Sussex about the British press in his memoir.
Highlighting one of the instances, Mr Clarke said: “There is a wonderful passage in the book where in the run-up the sort of the famous dog bowl fight with William where he accuses William, when William is accusing Meghan of bullying, a troublemaker and upsetting everybody and says ‘you are just parroting the stuff you read in the press’.
“That is so backward it boggles the mind because obviously, William was there.
“William saw it presuming it firsthand or heard firsthand accounts from the people involved and yet Harry’s blaming the press and this is the real contradiction at the center of the book because on the one hand, Harry hates the press.”
Prince Harry has been criticised for making “outrageous” comments about women in his autobiography Spare, as Jeremy Clarkson has faced a public outcry for his words about Meghan Markle in his column for The Sun.
The former Top Gear presenter apologised to the couple after he wrote a now-deleted piece in which he declared he wanted to see the Duchess of Sussex stripped naked and paraded through the streets while excrement was thrown at her.
However royal authors Lady Colin Campbell and Phil Dampier took issue with Harry’s complaints about Mr Clarkson’s misogyny when segments of his own book appear to portray some women in an unflattering light.
Appearing on Dan Wootton’s GB News show, Lady C pointed out an extract in which Harry describes one of his matrons as “not hot” and explains how he would “mock” her as she walked downstairs “glacially” due to having scoliosis.

King Charles III is planning to invite 3,000 guests to his Coronation at Westminster Abbey in May.
The Palace has told Parliament to prepare for a guest list less than half the size of the one for Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation in 1953.
Back then, stands were erected in the Abbey then to allow 8,000 people to attend a service of almost three hours.
But in May for Charles’ Coronation, there will be no stands or scaffolding, according to sources in Parliament and the service length will be about half that of 1953.

The Princess of Wales visited a nursery school in Luton, Bedfordshire earlier today and was seen smiling broadly and high-fiving pupils.
Darren Stanton said: “I don’t believe the release of Prince Harry ’s new book has had a profound effect on Kate.
“From her body language, she appears totally at ease and isn’t showing any signs of distress or frustration. In fact, she’s even more confident as usual.”
“When someone is nervous, their voice pitch tends to go up or crack. However, while analysing videos of Kate from the day, her voice was completely on the same level, which denotes confidence.
“Her posture appeared open and her eye contact was consistent with the non-verbal signals of a very confident person. She seemed very comfortable in her surroundings and her own skin.
“While some people may expect them to be fazed, it’s business as usual for Kate and William!”

Seventy-two people died when the Yeti Airlines flight crashed into a gorge while on approach to the newly opened Pokhara International Airport in the foothills of the Himalayas.
King Charles wrote in a message to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari: “Dear Madam President, My wife and I were truly shocked to learn of the utterly tragic loss of life following the plane crash in Pokhara on Sunday and wanted you to know that our special thoughts and prayers are with you and the people of Nepal at this time of immeasurable sorrow.”
“We have been deeply saddened by this heart-breaking incident and, however inadequate it may be, we particularly wanted to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to all the bereaved families and to those who have lost their loved ones.”
“I remember with the greatest fondness my visits to Nepal and the many remarkable Nepalis I have met both there and around the world.” he said.
“And I know that Nepal is held in the highest regard by many people in the United Kingdom who stand in solidarity with your country at such a time of national mourning.
“Please be assured that you have our most resolute support.”An expert has claimed the Duke of Sussex’s public mage has “irrevocably changed” on social media for both the better and worse following revelations in his memoir, Spare.
The “sheer number” of claims in the book saw Harry constantly trending online, according to Usman Chishti, who has worked in social media for more than a decade.
He said when previous explosive royal biographies were published – most famously Princess Diana’s book Diana: Her True Story in 1992 – social media played a key role in how it was covered.

Prince William has confirmed his support in the fight against homelessness with his latest engagement, which has a clear link with his late mother Princess Diana.
The Prince of Wales visited this morning the London hub of Depaul UK, an organisation the late Princess of Wales visited on three different occasions in the 1990s as part of her work to end the homelessness crisis.
Read more about the visit hereIn his memoir Spare, published last week, the Duke of Sussex claimed some royals “feverishly” competed with each other to top the list of the most public duties in the Court Circular — the official record of royal engagements.
He said some members of the Royal Family were “obsessed” with having the highest number of official engagements each year, resulting in friction within the Palace.
While Harry did not specify names, he claimed the list was “rigged” as it was self-reported, suggesting some royals boosted their numbers to give the impression they were more hard-working.
Describing the Court Circular as a “sinister document”, Harry said it had morphed into a “circular firing squad,” adding: “It didn’t create the feeling of competitiveness that ran in my family, but it amplified them, weaponised them.”

The comments come after A-lister Kimmel mocked passages of the Duke’s memoir on his Late Night show, including parodying an account about his frostbitten penis.
Ms Schofield told Express.co.uk: “Jimmy Kimmel’s criticism of Harry must be especially hard for the Sussexes to swallow. Kimmel is truly a member of the Hollywood elite. He vacations with Jennifer Aniston and counts Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as some of his closest friends.”
She added: “If Kimmel has the courage to tease Prince Harry on national television, imagine the conversations that have happened behind closed doors with his peers.”

Prince Andrew hasn’t used his HRH style in an official capacity since late November 2019.
However, the Duke of York is now said to be wondering why he still needs to omit his HRH style “as he maintains that he has done nothing wrong”.
In a column for the Daily Mail, Ephraim Hardcastle wrote: “[Andrew] is said to be perplexed as to why he cannot again use the HRH title especially as he maintains that he has done nothing wrong.
“His trump card with mother was invariably: ‘Innocent until proven guilty.'”.
He added: “A source says Charles is resisting stirring up trouble by formally announcing any change in Andrew’s status. ‘It is more likely,’ whispers my mole, ‘that he will just start using it again in a low-key way to test the waters – should he get the King’s consent.'”

Prince Harry has “gone for broke” in his memoir, a biography writing expert has stated, warning that the publicity of his book may undo any potential for a royal reconciliation.
CEO of ghostwriting company StoryTerrace, Rutger Bruining, told Express.co.uk: “It really seems like Harry has gone for broke in terms of what he’s decided to reveal, without taking into consideration how this might impact his family…or rather, he’s made a conscious decision not to hold back, regardless of how his brother and others might feel.
“Harry clearly feels aggrieved and is using this book as his forum to tell the world what he believes is his truth.”
Mr Bruining added it was “interesting” that “at the same time, [Prince Harry] has said he wishes to be reconciled with his brother and his father”.
