PRINCE Harry felt "threatened by silence" after Meghan Markle told an "awkward" joke at the Trooping the Colour.
In the Prince Harry’s memoir he recalls the moment he was faced by a “yawning silence” from the Royal Family after Meghan Markle’s Trooping the Colour joke.
In his book titles Spare, the Duke said everyone at the Trooping the Colour was “in a good mood, upbeat”.
However the mood changed after Meghan Markle made a joke to Kate Middleton.
Prince Harry wrote: “But then: Kate asked Meg what she thought of her first Trooping the Colour. And Meg joked: Colourful,” Harry then claimed “a yawning silence threatened to swallow us all whole.”

Kate Middleton's brother James has taken to Instagram to share the news that his beloved therapy dog Ella had died.
In a post he said: "It is with great sadness that I announce my dear Ella has passed away
"For 15 years Ella has been at my side, from my darkest days to my happiest. I’m going to miss her terribly
"Ella had a very short illness, she slipped away in my arms at home and is now buried in the garden alongside Tilly. I took this picture just a few hours before she died
"I’m just about holding it together to write this, and despite the fact I knew this day was coming, it doesn’t make it any easier
"Goodnight my darling Ella, Alizee and the dogs will take good care of me."
Prince Harry has reportedly scored another £16million for his memoir Spare.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took a financial hit upon leaving royal family.
In the UK a whopping 750,000 copies of Spare have been sold since its publication on January 10.
Harry paid ghostwriter JJ Moehringer $1million for the book.
Americans appear to be turning against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — after they both plummeted in an opinion poll.
Harry now has an approval rating of -7, compared to +38 in early December.
Meghan Markle sank to -13, compared to +23 over the same period, pollster Redfield & Wilton revealed.
Asked if Harry was right to reveal intimate conversations with his family members in his biography, only 26 per cent said he was — with 44 per cent saying he was in the wrong.
The King has used the royal train for the first time since starting his reign, but what does it look like inside?
The current royal train came into service for the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977.
The dining rooms feature bolted-down formica tables surrounded by plywood furnishings more at home in Travelodge than Balmoral.
One of the dining rooms even has a visible bullet hole from a accident in 2000 where a royal bodyguard let off his gun while the Queen was sleeping.
Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha Markle, 58, said Prince Harry is “lacking in empathy, remorse, and shame”.
Speaking with GB News, Samantha said: “I think he [Harry] is lacking in empathy, remorse, and shame.
“He is showing a clear disconnect with reality and is so emotionally underdeveloped that he can’t move on from this stage where he has resentment over a whole host of issues.
“I don’t think he can think like an adult because I don’t think emotionally he is one.
“It’s really par for the course that he’s behaving in this bitter and delusionary way.
Asked about whether she thought King Charles should apologise to the Sussexes, she added: “It would come with a great deal of risk and, I believe, be absolutely dangerous to do so.
“If King Charles apologises to them, he is opening the door for more abuse.
“That’s what happens when you apologise to sociopaths and narcissists. You find yourself beating a dead horse.
“And he cannot be apathetic and enable that sort of manipulation and control.”
Prince Harry's memoir Spare has become the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time following its release on January 10.
But what did he have to say about his celebrity friends in his bombshell tell-all whinge-fest?
Harry on Oprah Winfrey: "Several close mates and beloved figures in my life, including one of Hugh and Emilie's sons, Emilie herself, and even Tiggy, had chastised me for Oprah.
"How could you reveal such things? About your family? I told them that I failed to see how speaking to Oprah was any different from what my family and their staffs had done for decades — briefing the press on the sly, planting stories….
"The only difference was that Meg and I were upfront about it.
"We chose an interviewer who was above reproach, and we didn't once hide behind phrases like 'Palace sources,' we let people see the words coming out of our mouths."
Harry on Tyler Perry: "We were having a chat with Tyler Perry, the actor-writer-director.
"He'd sent a note to Meg before the wedding, out of the blue, telling her that she wasn't alone, that he saw what was happening.
"Now, FaceTiming with him, Meg and I were trying to put on a brave face, but we were both a mess. Tyler saw. He asked what was up.
"We gave him the highlights, the loss of security, the borders closing. Nowhere to turn.
"'Whoa. OK, that's a lot. But… just breathe. Breathe.'
"That was the problem. We couldn't breathe.
"'Look… take my house.'
"'What?'
"'My house in Los Angeles. It's gated, it's secure — you'll be safe there. I'll keep you safe.'"
Harry on Elton John, writing about a vacation he and Meghan Markle spent with the British singer, pianist and composer: "The best part of the visit was watching Elton and David and their two boys fall in love with Archie.
"Often I'd catch Elton studying Archie's face and I knew what he was thinking: Mummy. I knew because it happened so often to me as well.
"Time and again I'd see an expression cross Archie's face and it would bring me up short.
"I nearly said so to Elton, how much I wished my mother could hold her grandson, how often it happened that, while hugging Archie, I felt her — or wanted to.
"Every hug tinged with nostalgia; every tuck-in touched with grief."
Princess Kate's brother, James, announced on social media that his therapy dog, Ella, sadly passed away.
Ella helped the Princess' brother battle clinical depression.
On Instagram, he said: "It is with great sadness that I announce my dear Ella has passed away. For 15 years Ella has been at my side, from my darkest days to my happiest. I’m going to miss her terribly
"Ella had a very short illness, she slipped away in my arms at home and is now buried in the garden alongside Tilly. I’m just about holding it together to write this, and despite the fact I knew this day was coming, it doesn’t make it any easier.
"Goodnight my darling Ella, Alizee and the dogs will take good care of me.
Relationship expert Valon Asani spoke with The Mirror on how Prince Harry can follow these five steps to mend his relationship with the royal family.
Asani said that first Harry and his family need to acknowledge and have sympathy for the struggles they've been through.
Then they need to find a "common ground" such as an activity over which they can bond over.
The next step is to reach out for an olive branch. Asani explained that if Harry and Meghan are invited to the King's Coronation, they should go.
He added how establishing boundaries and respecting them is another important step in reconciling.
Finally, they need to take it slow and not rush because relationships aren't amended in a split of a second.
Do you think we'll get to see a dialogue between the Sussexes and the Royal Family this year?
When Harry and Meghan were expecting Lilibet, their lives were way different from when they had Archie and still had a royal role.
When expecting Lilibet, the Duke said how he wanted to be the first person Lilibet sees.
He wrote: "I cradled her just a moment, trying to smile at her, to see her, but honestly I couldn’t see anything."
When Lilibet was born, Meghan and Harry shared a special intimate moment in which the Duchess told him: "I’ve never been more in love with you than in that moment.”
Harry was left speechless replying: "Really?" with Meghan giving him reassurance by repeating the words.
During his visit to Bolton Town Hall yesterday, King Charles watched a dance performance by the Polonez folk group.
Artistic director for Polonez, Asia Cullinan, said: "It was surreal to perform for the King. I didn't quite believe it until he came out of the car.
"It was memorable, historical and I was very privileged to have been asked by the palace themselves to come and perform.
"I'm the artistic director for the group and I wasn't even told about the royal visit.
"I just had to beg these people to take time off work and to trust me and then we were all allowed to know about a week ago.
"I feel elated now we have performed and just so privileged to be able to represent Poland in front of the King of England.
"It was absolutely fantastic."
Queen Consort Camilla praised Marcus Rashford yesterday when she unveiled books donated by the Manchester United forward to his childhood youth club.
Camilla described Rashford's good deed as "wonderful" while she and King Charles spent the afternoon at the Norbrook Youth Club, Wythenshawe, where the England ace spent hours shooting pool with his friends as a schoolboy when he wasn't playing football.
The club received a bookshelf full of children's novels picked by the footballer and Mamillan Children's Books team, which were donated by the Marcus Rashford Book Club in partnership with the National Literacy Trust.
England Manager Gareth Southgate was also present, and when asked about the striker's role in tackling issues such as child literacy and hunger, he said: “He’s been so impressive in being able to cope with it and to be thinking of other people.
“We’re fortunate in our team. We’ve got a lot of young men who recognise the privilege they’ve got and the opportunity to help other people that have come from the same areas that they’ve come from… We are in his youth centre, aren’t we.”
Top astrologer Jessica Adams claimed King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla‘s coronation “will not go as planned”.
Adams told the Daily Express to “expect a date change or cancellation.”
She said: “The people of the Commonwealth and the United Kingdom, as well as Parliament, will be drawn into the crisis following new revelations about Charles, Diana and Camilla.
“The coronation is set for May 2023 but will not go as planned, something Harry has hinted at in publicity for Spare.”
The astrologer added: “The Anglican church has never crowned a divorced man as king, let alone one who has confessed to adultery – and nor has a woman participating in adultery become Queen.”
The Prince of Wales made a royal visit to Together As One in Slough, which is a charity that helps tackle young gang violence.
Prince William joined a group of young carers that learnt about food nutrition and upped their cooking skills with chef and teacher Kevin Muhammad.
The Prince learnt how to make teriyaki chicken with the group but admitted that he is not the best when it comes to cooking.
The chef revealed that during his talks with the Prince, William admitted that he doesn't like when Kate puts fresh coriander in their dishes, hinting that the Princess of Wales does the cooking.
Chef Muhammad added, as per Good To Know: "William said it was amazing, he was very impressed with the food and impressed with the five-spice we put in and how it was seasoned."
While appearing on the Apple Fitness + podcast Time to Walk, Prince William revealed the 80s hit that he and his mother used to sing together.
He told the podcast: "When I was younger, Harry and I, we were at boarding school. And my mother used to play all sorts of songs to kind of while away the anxiety of going back to school.
"And one of the songs I massively remember and has stuck with me all this time, and I still, to this day, still quite enjoy secretly, is Tina Turner's "The Best" because sitting in the backseat, singing away, it felt like a real family moment.
"And my mother, she’d be driving along, singing at the top of her voice. And we'd even get the policeman in the car, he'd be occasionally singing along, as well."
Australia is currently carrying out a recovery project after a series of flooding hit the south.
The Prince of Wales had a call with emergency service workers there to show his support.
During the call, he said: "We have got people like you guys looking out for each other and supporting each other – that’s what really matters, and so you are getting everyone through it.
"Please make sure you are looking after yourselves and those in your communities who need because some people will be suffering in silence. I just want to make sure that you’re all looking out for yourselves as well as each other. It’s really important."
Kensington Palace confirmed that Prince William donated money to the Australian Red Cross to help affected areas.
Heartening but heartbreaking to speak with some of those affected by the serious flooding in Australia.
As ever, their sense of community and selflessness is humbling, but it is terrible that such devastation seems to be occurring more often.

The Duke of Sussex referred to an unofficial biography by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand published in August 2020 about his and his wife's life in his memoir.
The book claimed that Meghan underwent a "mock kidnapping" to prepare for "all high-risk security scenarios" making it an "extremely intense and scary" experience for her.
In his memoir Spare, Prince Harry hit out at the claims, writing: "A bestselling book describes the day Special Forces came to our house, grabbed Meg, put her through several intense days of drills, pushing her into back seats and car boots, speeding away to safe houses."
But in reality, Harry said the Duchess "wasn't given one minute of training."
He added: "On the contrary, the Palace floated the idea of not giving her any security at all because I was now sixth in line to the throne".

King Charles will break a Coronation royal tradition by dropping the wearing of silk stockings and breeches.
Instead, the monarch will be wearing his military uniform when he is crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6.
An insider said: “Though some of the more long-winded elements of the Coronation will be moved aside or modernised, the King was happy to wear the breeches and stockings.
“But in discussion with senior aides they are saying he should not wear them, so will arrive in a military uniform instead.
“It is largely to do with modernising the Coronation and stripping away the stuffiness. They think having a 74-year-old King arriving in stockings and breeches in 2023 looks too dated. They are probably right.”
Student Patrick Thelwell pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour after he allegedly "threw eggs at the King" during his visit to York on November 9, 2022.
A pre-trial hearing at York magistrates heard from his solicitor Nicola Hall on whether his actions "were part of legitimate protest" and whether they "looked likely to cause fear of unlawful violence."
She added: "He would take the view his actions were necessary and part of a protest against the establishment".
Senior District Judge Paul Goldspring released Thelwell on unconditional bail until his trial at the same court on April 14.
Prince Harry and Meghan took a financial hit upon leaving the Royal Family, however, thanks to the media deals they settled, their net worth has taken a positive turn.
MailOnline reported that the Duke and Duchess signed a four-book deal with their book publisher, Penguin Random House, for £16million.
Meanwhile, they also benefitted from a deal signed with Spotify back in 2020 for £18million.
In 2022, the couple released a six-episode docu-series on Netflix which saw them rake in £88million.
King Charles and his wife Camilla met with England's manager Gareth Southgate at Norbrook Community Centre in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester.
The centre offers weekly footy sessions for young people and the King couldn't resist but poke a football himself while on the sidelines.
Southgate said: "He's incredibly passionate about it and is very aware of the difficulties for young people growing up today. I wasn’t sure whether we would lose him as he’s obviously got a lot on his plate now.
"But it was great to see he is so appreciative of the people who help to run the courses, the leaders. Whenever you speak to him he always immediately refers to what is going on with the trust, what is going on for young people, the impact of the pandemic and those sorts of things.
"He has always had this genuine desire to give people opportunity."

A representative from Sotheby’s announced Kim Kardashian bought Princess Diana‘s Attallah Cross necklace yesterday for $197,453 (£163,800).
Diana first wore the iconic piece of jewellery in 1987 at the London Charity Gala.
A recent royal trend report from Prettylittlething revealed online searches for the people’s princess’s jewellery have since skyrocketed by 450%.
Former royal correspondent Camilla Tominey has spoken out about Prince Harry‘s hypocrisy when it comes to press coverage.
Tominey told Press Gazzette: “I note that the journalists who are singled out for criticism are those who haven’t always given Harry and Meghan sort of undiluted praise, but that’s not our job.
“I think people misunderstand it like we are mates with these people.
“Gyles Brandreth said ‘when it comes to the royals, you never confuse friendliness for friendship’.
“I mean, I wouldn’t even say I got a degree of friendliness, ironically, from any of them but Harry.
“On one hand he’d say, ‘oh, why are you all here?’ and ‘I don’t like you and I don’t want you on this job’.
“And then on another, you’d get this sense that he was kind of craving coverage…
“Megan and Harry really enjoy the limelight to a certain extent, whereas William and Kate are naturally very introverted and shy.
“So that was an interesting dynamic from the beginning.”
Princess Kate hosted a reception for the world champion England Wheelchair Rugby League team on Thursday afternoon at Hampton Court Palace.
Following Prince Harry stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the Princess of Wales replaced him as patron of the Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League.
Kate was greeted by chair of the Rugby Football League, Simon Johnson, and took time to speak with and congratulate players and coaches.
England defeated France in the Rugby League World Cup Final 28-24 in November 2022 to become world champions.
