Law deans may lose sleep over the U.S. News & World Report’s law school rankings, but those annual numbers have little impact on the decision-making of aspiring lawyers, according to a new study by two law professors.
Their study found little to no correlation between ranking changes and the behavior of applicants. That is, schools that jumped in the rankings didn’t generally bring in stronger classes, and those that fell didn’t necessarily enroll weaker ones.
