| Dear Tiatira Com,
When we envision Alaska, our mind’s eyes may conjure those iconic images of America’s 49th state: its fjords, glaciers and rivers, its snowy peaks. including towering Mt. Denali, and its wildlife, especially the majestic bald eagle.
When I think about this graceful symbol of America, I also think about the conservation and environmental efforts that saved it from extinction. By the 1960s, its numbers had dwindled to about 1,000. Today, the bald eagle can be found in every U.S. state except Hawaii, and its numbers, now in the hundreds of thousands, continue to rebound.
Next week, as the U.S. celebrates Presidents Day, our Behind the Lens video reminds us that standing up and stepping up to protect what matters can, indeed, bear magnificent fruit.
Stay curious.
Warmest Regards, |

| HOW A WILDLIFE FILMMAKER MAKES MAGIC IN ALASKA’S WILDS |
|
|
Bobbing about in a Zodiac isn’t the most stable way to make a film, but somehow, Ross Vernon McDonald managed to capture the white-headed hunters that swoop from the skies to snag their dinner. He says he was lucky. Maybe. But take a look at the payoff for his hard work, persistence and attention to detail that went into his inspired and inspiring video.
