A group of 22 Cambodians with scholarships to study in Australia have received some pointers from senior transport ministry officials before embarking on their new journey in July, according to a ministry statement on May 26.
On behalf of Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol, ministry secretary of state Em Nithara presided over the event, held at the ministry earlier that day.
The ministry said the postgraduate scholarships cover fields such as economics, commerce, land management, public service, technology, education and agriculture, and aim to promote human resource capacities as well as inclusive and sustainable development in Cambodia.
It said the scholarship students – 13 of them women – comprise civil servants, private company staff and NGO officials. One of them will pursue a doctorate in philosophy, while the others will study in master’s degree programmes.
