The President’s Innovation Fund, designed to advance SFA’s student recruitment and education on campus, will soon announce recipients of the fund. Faculty competing in the Stephen F. Austin F23 President’s Innovation Fund are now in the beginning phases of their projects.
The goal of the Fund is “to encourage staff and faculty to come up with novel ways to recruit new students and retain current students; to support practices that challenge students to take an active role in their education and transform classrooms to active learning spaces,” Dr. Sheryll Jerez, interim dean of the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, said.
The President’s Innovation Fund is awarded to faculty and staff members who design “… initiatives that creatively fuel increased student enrollment, engagement and success,” according to the Office of Research and Graduate Studies website.
The award is separated into two categories: Innovation Seed and Innovation Implementation and Research.
“The seed award is for small-scale pilot projects in a small number of classrooms or a small-scale recruitment/retention project, or initial data collection. The implementation and research award is for large-scale recruitment/retention/success projects,” Dr. Jerez said.
The proposal deadline closed on Sept. 30. The winners of the F23 President’s Innovation Fund will be announced “on or before Oct. 31, [2022],” according to Dr. Jerez. Award winners will use the money to fund research and projects related to student retention, engagement and education. Projects will begin before Nov. 1 and continue until July 31, 2023.
A list of last year’s awardees is available online, as well as a small summary of their projects.
