The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) completed its full-scale emergency exercise today, simulating an aircraft accident to test emergency procedures for communication, incident command, and coordination between multiple agencies.
“Our airport has seen a wide variety of changes over the past few years, but one constant has been our commitment to emergency preparedness,” said Airport Director Ivar C. Satero.
“Coordinating and collaborating with so many agencies is vital to ensure we’re ready to respond to any incident, and I am grateful for the participation of so many members of our SFO community.”
The exercise also demonstrated the capabilities of the SFO Emergency Operations Center (EOC), which serves as the focal point of the Airport’s efforts to restore normal operations following an event, and SFO Mobile Command Post, a purpose-built vehicle that gives incident commanders full situational awareness, including coordinated communication and CCTV access regardless of location.
