New dishes at Indonesian favourite Bintang Cafe
Vic Park’s homely Bintang Cafe has much to offer fans of Indonesian cooking. While the family-run cafe offers a healthy selection of dishes to share, its rice and noodle dishes for one are something of a calling card. Recently, Bintang has introduced a few more options for eaters to choose from – not least its nasi ayam Taliwang: Lombok’s famous grilled chicken spiked with a fiery chilli sauce and served with rice. It’s not a dish you see too often in Perth. Another recent addition is the nasi pecel: rice with pieces of spiced, deep-fried beef.
When Worlds Apart collides with Besk’s Courtyard
An understudy of influential late winemaker Taras Ochota of Ochota Barrels, Louis Schofield of Worlds Apart Wines subscribes to a similar lo-fi, flavour-first winemaking approach as his mentor. This Friday, June 9, Schofield is heading to the Besk courtyard for Courtyards Apart. Guests can taste Schofield’s wines (and buy them from the bottle shop) while chefs fire up the yakitori grill and RTRFM DJs spin. Entry is free and doors open from 4pm.
