But, the last few months if not year have been bad for eating out as restaurants dwindle for various reasons.
The most common reasons have been soaring energy costs, decline in revenues, and staff shortages. Its definitely dampened the food scene that has made its mark for quality and availability.
We have curated a few restaurants that are currently closed (at least temporarily according to Google). We made it a point to ensure that we include eateries that sit on at least four star reviews, have served more than 100 customers, and are are actually missed!
Pocha Korean Restaurant : This popular Korean restaurant is rated 4 and half stars. On some platforms its even 5-star. It comes with good news though – it is only closed for the summer holidays. The owners expect to be serving delicious cuisine once summer is over. The restaurant is on 112 Devonshire St, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield S3 7SF. Their phone number is 07780 259595
Beteseb Ethiopian Restaurant Sheffield: This African restaurant that serves Ethiopian staples is currently closed. It is one of Sheffield's 5-star takeaways and restaurants. Many will be hoping it opens its doors soon.
Smoke BBQ : This barbecue restaurant is closed until 1 September 2023 for refurbishment.
The Closed Shop : The Closed Shop has been closed since late May, after Stancil Brewery’s lease on the venue came to an end. It is expected to open again very soon though.
Nando’s West Street : This branch of the popular peri-peri chicken chain is closed until 10 September 2023 due to a supply chain issue.
Nando’s Valley Centertainment : This branch of Nando’s is also closed until 10 September 2023 for the same reason as the West Street branch.
Raffina : This Italian restaurant in Crookes has permanently closed due to the impact of the pandemic.
Mangla Restaurant : Described as a Modern curry house with an open kitchen, for traditional Indian and Kashmiri dishes, plus takeaway, Mangal is temporarily closed. Its address is 149 Spital Hill, Sheffield S4 7LF. Its last reviewes were over two months ago.
Ratil's : This sea food place on 266 Glossop Road sits on 376 mostly positive reviews but is marked as closed temporarily. It is unclear when it will open again.
We hope that these restaurants will reopen soon and continue to serve their customers with delicious food and drinks. In the meantime, there are still plenty of other options to choose from in Sheffield. You can find more information about them on Google or Tripadvisor.
