The airline is seeing huge demand from Indian cities.
With China not fully open to international travel yet, India has played a significant supporting role in Singapore Airlines’ post-COVID recovery. The carrier is fast approaching its pre-pandemic figures in India and is ready to show more love to the country’s southern region. Not only is it adding more flights to several cities but also offering some excellent deals.
As Singapore Airlines continues to restore its flights to and from India, it recently announced additional services from three cities in South India – Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi.
The airline currently operates a daily service to Kochi and will increase it to twice daily from August 2nd. It will also increase its Chennai flights from 10 times a week to 17 weekly flights from September 1st. Hyderabad’s current once-daily schedule is also set to increase to 11 weekly flights from September 1st.
Singapore Airlines has pinned its hopes on India, as passengers from the country continue to use its services for travel in the Southeast Asia region and beyond. By August 1st, SIA will operate 80 flights from 8 cities in India and will hope to increase it further down the months.
The airline has gone all out to ensure that these new flights attract as many passengers as possible. It has introduced highly reduced fares for passengers flying from Ahmedabad, Kochi, Hyderabad, and Chennai to several of SIA’s connections in Asia.
Travelers planning to fly from any of these four Indian cities to destinations such as Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and other Asian countries can book these promotional fares until August 5th.
From Ahmedabad and Kochi, the fares are available for travel between August 2nd and March 31st. From Chennai and Hyderabad, they are available for travel between September 2nd and March 31st.
From these gateways, the airline is offering economy tickets to Bangkok for as little as $203 (all-inclusive return). Two-way (all inclusive) fares to Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Seoul can be booked for as little as $218, $299, and $438.
Sy Yen Chen, General Manager India for Singapore Airlines, commented,
“We are steadily restoring our India operations back to pre-Covid levels to cater to the strong travel demand. These special fares and increased capacity from Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi will give our customers many attractive options to pick from when they plan their overseas holidays in the coming months. We hope to inspire even more confidence for international travel to and from India with our initiatives.”
Since opening its borders to all vaccinated travelers in April this year, Singapore has received more than 1.5 million visitors till June.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) predicted that it expects around six million international visitors this year and said that of the 1.5 million visitors since April, Indians represented the second-highest nationality who visited the island nation.

With 219,000 visitors, India was behind only Indonesia, which had 282,000 visitors. Malaysia and Australia took the 3rd and 4th spots with 139,000 and 125,000 visitors, respectively.
With so many Indians heading Singapore’s way, it’s not surprising why SIA would add more flights.
