After much anticipation, today was the big day and Singapore Airlines finally opened the doors to their new airport lounges at Singapore Changi Airport including the newly renovated Private Room.
The renovation process included the SilverKris First Class lounge as well as the adjacent Private Room, together with the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge which has also been expanded in space.
Singapore Airlines has invested a total of SG$50 million into their lounge renovation project which has been announced back in 2019 but was obviously stretched out due to Covid.

The KrisFlyer Gold Lounge and the SilverKris Lounges (Business- and First Class) as at Terminal 3 is open 24/7 while the Private Room for Singapore Airlines First Class passengers is available from 05:30am to 02:30am.
Singapore Airlines released a press communique about the new opening today.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) today unveiled its all-new flagship SilverKris and KrisFlyer Gold lounges at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3, following a S$50 million re-design, upgrade, and expansion project. This will further enhance the on-ground customer experience at the Airline’s main hub, and comes as the demand for international air travel from and through Singapore takes off once again.
The Private Room, the First Class section of the SilverKris Lounge, the Business Class section of the SilverKris Lounge, and the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge can collectively accommodate around 1,150 customers within their 6,100 square-metres, translating to 30% more seats and space. This also doubles the capacity that was available during the pandemic while the upgrading works were going on.
Mr Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Airlines, said: “Extensive customer engagement and research have gone into the design of the new SilverKris and KrisFlyer Gold lounges. Customers will enjoy thoughtfully curated product offerings and experience the signature Singapore Airlines hospitality, all within a comfortable and restful environment, ensuring that they are refreshed and ready for their journey.
“Opening these lounges at this time signals our commitment to SIA’s premium brand and growth strategy. It reinforces our position as Changi Airport’s anchor airline, and reflects our confidence in Singapore’s future as a pre-eminent global air hub.” …

The images look very nice and up to the usually high Singapore Airlines standard. I do miss the more intimate of The Private Room a little bit in these pictures but that might be more of an illustrative issue.
Maybe at some point in the future, I’ll have an opportunity to visit TPR again. Coming to think of it I really miss it. Back in the day when it was easy to book Singapore Airlines First Class with United Mileage Plus Miles I took SQ1/SQ2 to/from LAX almost twice a month and when available (almost all the time) in First. Good old times!
Conclusion
Singapore Airlines has invested S$50 million into their lounge facilities at Changi Airport, giving them a much-deserved facelift and the renovation period took roughly three years, up from the originally planned two years which was caused primarily by the impact of Covid-19. Although I’m sure the lack of passengers made it much easier for them to complete the renovations without too much interference.
I’m especially happy to see SIA having invested in the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge which is available for Star Alliance Gold members as well as their own KrisFlyer Gold members traveling in Economy Class. While Business and First Class were always welcomed at the SilverKris Lounge, the KF Gold Lounge was always a little bit treated like the red-headed stepchild and a rather dire environment. This appears to have changed.
