Last week I travelled on Singapore Airlines from Dubai via Singapore to Bangkok. My first SQ flight in 2 years!
There have been quite a few changes to the Singapore Airlines experience. Watch the video below to find out more.

Between my flights, I had about four hours of transit time at Changi. Depending on where you arrive from, you may be allowed to roam around freely during transit or you may have to go to a restricted area.
I wasn’t aware of the rules before departure and was prepared for the worst scenario, having to go to a confined transit area at a gatehold area as reported by Loyaltylobby. Fortunately, after landing passengers from the Dubai flight SQ495 were allowed free movement during transit. Only a few high COVID cases countries are not allowed to freely transit.
I got to visit the new SilverKris Lounge, which opened just a few weeks ago.
The lounge replaces the old SilverKris Lounge. It has a few sections on the 3rd floor of Terminal 3 at Changi.
Food can order by scanning the QR code on the table. All food is served individually.
The lounge staff told me that the Private Room and First Class Lounge are under renovation, so a temporary First Class Lounge has been set up inside the new SilverKris Lounge. It was empty and I took a few pictures.
The First Class Lounge has all the amenities SilverKris Lounge has to offer including a small bar and waiter service.
Once the newly renovated First Class lounge opens, the temporary First Class area will become part of the SilverKris Lounge.
The new SilverKris lounge experience was positive, especially so given that it wasn’t crowded during my transit. Lounge staff told me the peak hours are in the morning, then around 18:00 (US flights) and during late evening (Europe flights).
What’s currently missing is a rest area for long transit passengers. I asked the staff and they said that the rest area is still under construction. This is also what The Private Room has been missing in the past.
I am hoping eventually that the buffet will be back and a greater variety of drinks and snacks will be served.
