Singapore will launch a career conversion programme aimed at ‘upskilling’ those who work in human resources (HR) in June, the minister for manpower has announced.
The new programme will be one of over 100 such programmes operated by Workforce Singapore, a government-backed training body. It has been designed to encourage Singaporean workers to seek new opportunities in their careers through lifelong learning.
The programme will teach HR professionals innovative new skills including HR analytics, strategic workforce planning and knowledge in HR technology.
Mayumi Soh of Pinsent Masons MPillay, the Singapore joint law venture between MPillay and Pinsent Masons, said: “The government’s effort to redesign jobs and reskill HR professionals as employees return to the workplace post-covid are expected to help ease the labour crunch.”
According to a news report, the Singapore National Employers Federation and continuing education and training provider NTUC LearningHub will operate the programme. The country’s government will work with the Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) and the Singapore Human Resources Institute to familiarise the HR community with the new points-based work pass assessment framework and other assessment tools.
In March, Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MoM) said it would launch the new points-based work pass assessment framework from next September.
