SINGTEL on Dec 19 launched the hi!Tourist EZ-Link SIM Card that is the first of its kind in Asia to combine two key services for tourists – the card functions as a prepaid SIM as well as a stored value travel card that can be used on public transport services in Singapore.
Priced at S$18 (US$13.13), the SIM includes 100GB of 4G data, free unlimited access to social media and messaging as well as 1GB roaming data for selected countries in the region.
In addition, it comes with S$3 credit for rides on Singapore’s public trains and buses and can be topped-up subsequently.
Tourists who present the card can also enjoy a free round trip on Singapore Cable Car – Sentosa Line (worth S$15) as well as up to 25% off selected Sentosa attractions and packages with One Faber Group, and exclusive dining offers with restaurant reservation and dining portal HungryGoWhere and KFC.
The new tourist SIM is an attractive option for visitors to Singapore, one of Asia’s top tourist destinations, where more than nine million international visitors arrived in the first half of 2018 alone, an increase of 8% over the same period last year.
Gan Siok Hoon, vice president, Mobile Marketing & Sales, Consumer Singapore at Singtel said, “The new hi!Tourist EZ-Link SIM card offers a generous 100GB of 4G local data for visitors to make the most of their time in Singapore, such as streaming videos or sharing photos while on the go.
“Additionally, 1GB of roaming data will come in handy for short trips to selected neighbouring countries. We are pleased to partner with EZ-Link and One Faber Group to be the first in Asia to introduce this innovative product to help tourists get more out of their travel experience.”
EZ-Link Pte Ltd chief executive officer Nicholas Lee, said, “EZ-Link is excited to integrate the EZ-Link function into the hi!Tourist SIM as it marries two essential needs for visitors to Singapore – staying connected and travelling on public transport into one card. With EZ-Link’s wide network of top-up points across the island, tourists can conveniently use the card to take the MRT, LRT and buses to explore our garden city.”
The SIM card is available for purchase at any Singtel shop, Singtel Exclusive Retailer, Travelex Currency Exchange Counter at Singapore Changi Airport, 7-Eleven, Cheers or participating retailers islandwide.
