We’re past the point now of making fun of people who need their food sans gluten right? If you or someone you know is celiac, you’ll understand the pain (and long term health issues) of eating the wrong stuff, so it’s good to know Perth’s restaurant scene understands it too. The majority of Perth eateries will have some form of gluten-free option at least somewhere on the menu, but for the purpose of this list we’ve tried to focus on places where you or your gluten-free date/mate gets the pick of the bunch, and aren’t regulated to the side salads section. We’ve also not included Japanese restaurants, because they’ll need a whole article of their own.
Not only is The Standard home to one of Perth’s best beer gardens, their menu is home to a seriously fantastic selection of gluten free options to choose from. Most of the extensive menu is vego and gluten free, and with options like crispy fried pork belly (below), shredded duck, NW jumbo tiger prawns, Korean fried cauliflower and pan roasted octopus, there’s no doubt they’re setting the gold standard in GF dining around Perth.
28 Roe Street, Northbridge
One of a bunch of Mexican-themed restaurantés that popped up when it was the done thing a few years back, el PÚBLICO has endured because quite simply, it is awesome. Their tequila selection is amazing (and won’t destroy you the next day), and basically the entire menu is gluten free, great for sharing, and delicious.
511 Beaufort Street, Highgate
A lot of Perth pizza joints are happy to rock the GF-base these days, but it’s hard to go past Alfred’s, who make their’s fresh in-house. Tucked away in a downstairs basement, it’s the perfect setting for both an intimate night, or really letting your hair down with rock’n’roll vibes a-plenty.
37 Barrack Street, Perth
We can confirm Neon Palms on William Street has matched their delicious cocktails with a menu that is constantly evolving throughout the year, but what never changes is their excellent range of (gf) options. Current faves are Calabrese & Chorizo Sausage with sweet potato puree and buttered peas, Nachos with Leicester Cheese and the ever-reliable Pork* Carnitas Tacos.
245 William Street, Northbridge
While this list is very night time dining focused, we’d be crazy not to mention Little Bird Cafe on Lake Street’s insane brekky/brunch options. Their GF, vegan pancakes are basically world famous at this point, along with basically everything else on the menu having a GF option, even the popcorn chicken tacos (below)! And if you can manage to walk out of there without grabbing a slice of one of their insane gluten free sweets options (gluten free salt and caramel cheesecake anyone?), well than you’re stronger-willed than us we’ll give you that!
100 Lake Street, Northbridge
Arguably Perth’s premier gluten free dining experience, not only is Angel Falls’ menu freakin’ massive, it’s also 100% Gluten Free! Put it down to the authentic Venezuelan dining on offer, with some enticing South American-style starter plates to warm you up before some huge grills put you into a coma. Take for instance, the 2-person Big Grill: 500g of rump cap steak, grilled free range chicken tenders, AFG signature chorizo, Venezuelan morcilla (black pudding), congri, coleslaw, papas criollas and AFG guasacaca sauce – ooft.
Shafto Lane, Perth
Tasty pasta options are quickly catching up in our brave new gluten free world, and Tommy Sugo in Nedlands and at pop-ups around town is leading the charge. Take it from owner Nathan: “It’s been a passion of mine to create a menu of gluten free pasta that offer our customers choice, have great texture and taste amazing…even for consumers without sensitivities to enjoy.” And he really puts his money where your mouth goes.
88 Broadway, Nedlands
If you’re feeling a little naughty and want to indulge in a serious meat-fuelled extravaganza, you can’t go past Porkies in Bayswater and Gosnells’ huge menu, packed with gluten free options from top to bottom. Owners John and Byron have traversed the American highways to learn from only the best, with John even laying claim to a Bachelor Of Barbecue Science.
208 Railway Parade, Bayswater

And on the opposite end of the spectrum there is Mt Lawley healthy staple Veggie Mama. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner, their wide variety of GF and vegan curries and salads will nourish you in all the right ways – the perfect remedy after a weekend blowout.
5/567 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley
Perth meets Peru is UMA’s tagline, essentially meaning you’re getting stunning dishes straight from Peru, brought to life almost entirely with exceptional WA produce. Award winning Executive Chef Alejandro Saravia combines incredibly bold, vibrant flavours across a variety of dishes including some untouchable ceviche options, grilled octopus, mouthwatering Anticuchos (Pardoo wagyu rump skewers), twice cooked Yucas and more. The menu is stacked with GF and GFO goodies, and the staff are incredibly mindful of allergies and go out of their way to make sure you’re looked after.

Flora & Fauna in Northbridge offer some great vegan and gluten free options for brekky and/or brunch. Epic portions will get your day off to a filling start, and their GF banana bread is much-loved for a very good reason.
4/70 Aberdeen Street, Northbridge
Any fish and chip shop around Perth worth their – chicken – salt (and here’s a bunch of our favourites) will offer a grilled option, but Redfish in Attadale take their gluten free fish seriously. They’ve got a dedicated gluten free fryer for their special gluten free crumbs, along with some huge fish tacos (below), coconut-crumbed prawns and even gluten free chips. Definitely worth seeking out if you’re a GF-fish and chipaholic.
88D Moreing Road, Attadale
A visit to Long Chim will always turn up the heat. The Thai street food mecca has become an institution of sorts since opening its doors in 2015 – and for good reason. Bringing a slice of Bangkok to the State Buildings’ basement, the menu practically slaps you in the face with flavour – and is incidentally, almost entirely gluten free!
State Buildings, 1 Cathedral Avenue, Perth
Another popular and long-standing Mexican haunt along William Street, La Cholita has been slinging terrific tacos, gorgeous guac and succulent sangrias since way back in 2011. Their tequila and mezcal offerings are plentiful (like in the hundreds), but their menu is almost completely gluten free – so you can enjoy lots of tacos while you imbibe.
279 William St, Northbridge
We have to admit, Canteen’s mantra “People Disappoint, Pizza is Eternal” certainly strikes a chord with our inner cynics. Or maybe, we just love pizza that much… In any case, Canteen’s wood-fired pizza is one of the better ways to finish off a swim at Cott. Their gluten free bases are some of the best in Perth – while not suitable for celiacs, it’s a great option for any gluten-free fiends out there.
110 Marine Parade, Cottesloe
A fish monger and fish and chip shop in the same building?! Kind of, although Stony Jetty ain’t your average fish and chip shop – offering boutique servings with a styling that feels very gourmet yet very accessible. Not the type of place to do things by halves, almost their entire menu is available gluten free, including their light and crispy batter, famous hand-cut and twice-fried chips, and all of their sides!
115A Brighton Road, Scarborough
The heartbeat of Palmyra’s big warm and welcoming community vibes, OUSHK offers a mouthwatering mix of Middle Eastern vibes, with their açai and earth bowls almost becoming world famous at this point – with heaps of gluten free options to get your morning started right.

What happens when you combine a passion for Nashville-style fried chicken, with the attention to detail that comes from a stint at Noma? You get Drasko’s, and we couldn’t be more pleased. Ever since opening at the start of 2021, Drasko’s has made huge waves, with hordes of punters lining up for that crispy, juicy, spicy good stuff. Gluten free friends, you haven’t been left out in the cold, with Drasko’s offering a gluten free version of their signature sando, made in a dedicated gluten-free fryer and all. Hot damn.
The Mezz, 148 Scarborough Beach Road, Mount Hawthorn
Fremantle institution and craft brewery trailblazers Little Creatures have become a stalwart for good beer and casual eats – including for our gluten-incompatible compadres.
