A delegation of the Embassy of Malaysia in Phnom Penh, led by the Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia, Datuk Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, held a working visit to Preah Sihanouk province from Friday to yesterday. He was joined by embassy officials throughout this work visit.
Among the activities carried out were the hosting of a dinner with Malaysians in the province and attending the 9th Sea Festival 2022 in Sihanoukville.
More than 100 Malaysians attended the dinner which was organised in a festive atmosphere. The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to get to know Malaysians living in the province better during the dinner.
He reminded Malaysians who work and reside in the province to register with the Embassy. He also emphasised that the Malaysian Embassy is always ready to provide consular and immigration assistance for Malaysians in Cambodia.
The Embassy’s delegation attended the Sea Festival on Saturday to lend support to Tourism Malaysia, which opened a promotion counter to attract tourists to Malaysia and highlight tourism products, arts and Malaysian cultural heritage.
During the visit to the event, all the male Embassy officials in the delegation wore the traditional Malaysian tengkolok (headgear) to rekindle the spirit of love for Malaysia in Cambodia. This is one of the efforts in promoting Malaysian cultural diplomacy.
This event also witnessed the performance of traditional Malaysian dances from the Melaka State Culture and Arts Group (JKKN Melaka) troupe, which was specially flown in to introduce to the international community, especially Cambodians, the uniqueness of Malaysian traditional dance traditions and arts.
The six-day Sea Festival, which is expected to attract more than 500,000 visitors from home and abroad to Sihanoukville, offered various interesting activities to visitors.
The working visit was one of the Embassy’s efforts to intensify the promotion of Malaysian culture and improve bilateral relations between Malaysia and Cambodia in the field of arts and tourism.
