The Minnesota Department of Health is warning restaurants against a would-be scammer who pretends to be a health inspector demanding cash ahead of an upcoming visit.
KMSP has a story on the announcement from the state health department, which said Monday that a Minneapolis restaurant manager had been targeted last week. According to the warning, a caller claimed to represent the department and said they wanted $1,000 for an inspection later that week.
The department didn’t identify the restaurant, but said that real city health inspectors never ask for payment — or accept payment for fees or citations.
