Donald Trump’s many legal challenges
|
Here’s the latest news in the array of criminal and civil claims former president Donald Trump is facing:
- A New York appeals court rejected Trump’s bid to dismiss Attorney General Letitia James’ civil lawsuit accusing Trump and his family business of a ‘staggering’ fraud, but narrowed the case and dismissed all claims against Ivanka Trump.
- In the documents case, a lawyer for Trump aide Walt Nauta told a federal judge that he could not yet enter a plea in the case that accuses him of helping the former president hide national security documents because he still does not have local counsel in Florida. U.S. Magistrate Judge Edwin Torres postponed Nauta’s arraignment for a second time, to July 6.
- Trump’s lawyers will ask a federal judge to transfer to federal court from New York state court a criminal case accusing the former president of falsifying business records tied to a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.
