Chinese gaming teams Suzhou Tianba and Shenzhen STE will be heading to Riyadh in July for the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2023 after finishing first and second at the Peacekeeper Elite League 2023 spring finals on April 22. Suzhou Tianba took the championship with 226 points after a total battle of 24 rounds in four days; Shenzhen STE Team qualified for the PMWI as runners-up at the event, held at the Hangzhou Esports Center. The PMWI will see 24 teams from around the world compete for prize money of $3 million. First released at the start of 2017, PUBG: Battlegrounds, a battle royale game developed by PUBG Studios and published by Krafton, is one of the most popular games on Steam, with more than 696,000 concurrent players at its peak in 2022, according to market data platform Statista.
