Rising Rents in the U.K. Keep Potential Tenants From Leaving Home
Thanks to rising rents, the number of tenants leaving their family’s home for their own place has been steadily declining across Britain since 2015. Eight years ago, first-time renters made up 6.1%, or 71,860 new rented households, of all tenants moving into a new home, but during the first five months of the year, that number has dropped to 4.6%, which is about 43,280 newly rented homes. Rental growth has begun to cool, however, and is expected to continue to do so through the rest of the year, giving first-time renters more opportunity to move out on their own. In May, the average rent on a newly let home was up 9.1% year over year, down from 11.1% annual growth in April. PropertyWire
Mark Ballas of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Lists L.A. Home
Professional ballroom dancer Mark Ballas, who gained fame from 20 seasons on “Dancing With the Stars,” has listed his Los Angeles home for $2.395 million. Built in 1952, the Laurel Canyon house is 2,104 square feet, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Though a dance studio would be expected, the home actually features a music studio, which could be converted into an additional bedroom if the new buyer is less musically inclined. Ballas purchased the home back in 2017 for $1.7 million and initially put the home on the market back in April for $2.549 million. Realtor.com
U.A.E. Mortgage Lenders Lower Completion Requirement for off-Plan Projects
Off-plan property buyers in the U.A.E. can now get mortgages sooner as lenders have eased the completion-level requirement. Previously, buyers could only get a mortgage once the project had reached 80% construction completion, but now, lenders are willing to grant mortgages once the property has hit 50% completion. As the U.A.E. sees an influx of new buyers, this change will benefit both resident and overseas buyers. Additionally, this is good news for Dubai’s property market as it becomes increasingly reliant on off-plan launches to keep up with demand. Gulf News
