Blogs: On Your Market / Diamonds

If there was once any question whether lab-grown diamonds would have an impact on the industry, well, we have our answer.
Aside from a recent report that lab-grown diamonds now reportedly make up around 10% of U.S. diamond engagement ring sales, one needn’t look much further than the market’s offerings: While a throng of current brands and designers have recently debuted lab-grown collections (some making the switch to solely lab-grown), others are fresh to the scene, making their debut not only as modern jewelers, but also as specifically lab-grown diamond jewelers.
One such addition is Switzerland’s Loev, a company just launched in 2022. “Inspired by the glamour of vintage jewels and admiration for bolder silhouettes, Loev’s house style explores past and present and enjoys challenging notions of femininity and masculinity in their unisex collection—a nod to modern icons of empowerment,” reads the brand’s statement.
Even the staunchest natural diamond consumer (or retailer) might be persuaded to try one of Loev’s arresting rings, bracelets, or earrings.
With a toi et moi style (very of the moment but a solid classic as well) the Swiss jeweler’s engagement rings featuring lab-grown Asscher-cut or round diamonds are mouthwatering with or without vibrant enamel, a checkerboard-style layout of diamonds among the collection’s standouts. The rings have a way of winding about the finger, especially when two are paired together (the brand demonstrates this in several ways via its Instagram). Such an arrangement makes the case that these rings can be worn for engagement as well as fashion, and their size lends an accessibility that blurs the lines of gender: not so large and chunky as to be declared “masculine,” not so petite to be named “feminine” (though what business do those terms have describing jewelry these days, anyway?).
For those not in the market for a new ring, coordinating wrap bracelets (also a style du jour) and hoop earrings round out a solid lineup for this new jeweler.
The collection in its entirety can be viewed on Loev’s website.
